RESOLUTION NO 276
WHEREAS, Stanley D. Minkler has served as Mayor of the City
of Tukwila for these past four years and has fulfilled the duties of his
office in a most capable and efficient manner, giving his time and efforts
for the improvement of the City, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Minkler served as a member of the Tukwila Town
and City Councils for a. period of 26 years, 20 of these years as Council
President, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Minkler's 30 years of unselfish service to the City
is the longest period of service in the history of Tukwila, and
WHEREAS, during these years Mr. Minkler has proven himself as
a tireless and devoted leader recognized by civic leaders throughout the
area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Tukwila
That we, the members of the Tukwila City Council, on behalf of the
citizens of the City of Tukwila express our sincere appreciation to Mr.
Minkler for his faithful and devoted service as Mayor and Councilman,
noting his able leadership, judgement and integrity.
During his years of service the City has grown from a one square mile
4th Class Town to approximately six square miles in size, has advanced
to a 3rd Class City and increased in assessed valuation from $103,743.00
in 1942 to $68,430,530.00 in 1972. With forethought and guidance through
proper planning and zoning a regional shopping center and industrial parks
have been developed which are becoming a pattern for other cities in the
state.
Under his guidance and leadership as Mayor, street and water improve-
ments have been accomplished and there has been a giant growth in city
services.
Mr. Minkler has served the City well through a time of tremendous
growth and the City of Tukwila will be eternally grateful for his 30 years
of public service to its citizens.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution, signed
by the Mayor and all members of the Council be presented to Mayor Minkler
as a memento of their deep appreciation and also of the action taken by
the Tukwila City Council
ADOPTED this 17th day of January, 1972.
