THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: That the Fire Fighter Employment Contract between the City of Tukwila and the City Fire Fighters for the year 1974, a copy of which is attached hereto, be and the same is hereby approved, ratified and confirmed. PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL Of the City of Tukwila, Washington, and approved by the Mayor at a regular meeting thereof this 29 day of October, 1973. Frank Todd Mayor Shirlee Kinney City Clerk Agreement IAFF Firefighters Local No 2088 This agreement is entered into by and between the City of Tukwila hereinafter referred to as the employer and Local #2088 International Association of Firefighters hereinafter referred to as the Union. It is the purpose of this agreement to achieve and maintain harmonious relations between the Employer and the Union to provide for equitable and peaceful adjustment of differences which may arise and to establish proper standards of wages hours and other conditions of employment. RECOGNITION The employer recognizes the union as exclusive bargaining agent for all employees of the Fire Department consistent with the Washington STate Department of Labor and Industries certification dated April 24, 1972 (case No 0-1137) UNION SECURITY All present members of the union shall as a condition of employment maintain membership is good standing for the duration of this agreement. Future employees except in such instances where an employee notifies both the union and employer in writing of a desire not to become a member within the first 10 working days of employment. WORK STOPPAGES the union agrees that there shall be no strikes slowdowns stoppages of work or interference with the efficient management of the Fire Department for the duration of this agreement. the employer agrees that there shall be no DISCRIMINATION the employer agrees not to discrimate against any employee for his activities in behalf of or membership in the Union. UNION BUSINESS Employees elected to Union office shall be granted reasonable time off without pay for the purpose of attending conventions conferences and seminars provided advance notification of the necessity for such time off is provided to the Fire Chief and further provided that a replacement is designated through the trading of shifts to insure that the operational affectiveness of the Department is not impaired.
