What is the Comprehensive Plan? It's
Tukwila's guiding document or "blueprint"
for how the City will manage its growth
and development for the next 20 years.
Comprised of guidelines for a variety
of community topics, the Plan provides
a flexible framework for adapting to
real conditions over time. Topics to be
reviewed and updated during 2013:
• Community Image • Capital Facilities
• Natural Environment • Utilities
• Southcenter /Tukwila Urban Center
• Transportation • Shoreline (narrative only)
For review and update during 2014:
• Economic Development • Housing

Why update the Comprehensive Plan?
Tukwila's Plan was first adopted in 1995 and last
revised in 2004. It will be reviewed and updated
during 2013 -2014. The State of Washington's
Growth Management Act requires adoption of
needed revisions to the Comprehensive Plan and
development regulations by June 30, 2015.
When the update is complete, the City's Plan will:
• Fully reflect the community priorities
expressed in Tukwila's recently- adopted
Strategic Plan.
• Meet Statewide and regional planning
requirements and growth forecasts.
• Be easier to
use online.
