RESOLUTION NO 438
RESOLUTION INDICATING INTENT TO ADOPT
INSPECTION PROCEDURES BY THE BUILDING
DEPARTMENT THAT WILL REDUCE MUDSLIDE
HAZARDS.

WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Tukwila has
adopted and is enforcing Title 16 of the Tukwila Municipal Code
regarding buildings and construction and Title 18 of the Tukwila
Municipal Code regarding land use and zoning, and
WHEREAS, Title 16 of the Tukwila Municipal Code prohibits
any person, firm or corporation from erecting, constructing,
enlarging, altering, repairing, improving, moving or demolishing
any building or structure without first obtaining a separate
building permit for each building or structure from the Building
Director, and
WHEREAS, The Building Director must examine all plans
and specifications for proposed construction when application is
made to him for a building permit,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section :L. That the Building Director shall require
the issuance of a permit for any excavation, grading, fill or
construction in the City of Tukwila; and
Section 2. That the Building Director shall require
review of each permit application to determine whether the
proposed site and improvements will be reasonably safe from
mudslides. If a proposed site and improvements are in a location
that may have mudslide hazards, a further review must be made by
persons qualified in geology and soils engineering; and the
proposed new construction, substantial improvement or grading
must: (1) be adequately protected against mudslide damage, and
(2) not aggravate the existing hazards.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, And approved by the Mayor at a regular meeting
thereof this 24th day of June, 1974.
