An ordinance regulating the keeping of dogs, imposing a license tax and providing a penalty. Ordinance 6 was amended or repealed by the following ordinances. AMENDED BY: REPEALED 249 569 An ordinance regulating the keeping of dogs, imposing a license and providing a penalty. Be Ordained by the Council of the Town of Tukwila: Section 1. The keeping of dogs over six months old, within the limits of the Town of Tukwila is hereby forbidden unless the owners or keepers thereof shall procure a license for each /dog, as herein provided. Section 2. The annual license on dogs is hereby fixed at the fol- lowing rates: On each male dog, $1.00; on each demale dog, 12.00. Section 3. On payment to the town treasurer of the amount of such license tax, and the production of the town treasurer's re- ceipt therefor to the clerk, it shall be the duty of said clerk to issue a license to_the: person applying for the same, which license shall remain in force for one year from the first day of November in each year, and-no longer; and the clerk shall also furnish with such_license a metal tag, upon which shall be stamped a number corresponding to the number of such license, and such tag shall be appended to a collar which the owner shall provide, and placed upon the neck of the dog so licensed. ,Section 4. It shall be the duty of the clerk to keep a list of the names and addresses of all persons to whom such licenses are issued, with the number of the license, and to ascertain :each year that thelicense has been renewed. etion .5. All_ dogs found running at large without having on such collar. an d tag are hereby declared a public nuisance, and-:it ;shallbe the duty of the marshal, or of some person by'him•appointed, todetain and impound all such dogs, and when. he "shall charge the owner or keeper $1.00 -for the release of such dog, together with 25 cents for each and every day such dog shall be kept in custody; providing, that -he need keep no dog for more than 4 days, and that at the end of that time it shall be discretionary with him whether such dog shall be sold to defray the expenses of keeping it or whether it shall be killed. Section 6. All fees received shall be held by the town treasurer, but the cost of keeping impounded dogs shall-be paid to the marshal, whose duty it shall be to feed the -dogs and treat them in a humane manner while so impounded. Section 7. If the owner or keeper of any dog shall permit such dog to wear a collar and license talc, without the license tax having been paid and license procured, he shall at deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and on conviction thereof, shall for each and every offense, befined in any sum not less than $1.00 or exceeding $25.00, to which shall be added the cost of prosecution. Section 8. If any owner or keeper of any female dog shall know- ingly permit it to run at large while in heat, notwithstand- ing such person may have a license for such dog, as herein_ provided, he on conviction thereof, for each and every such offense, be fined in any sum not less than $1.00 or exceeding $25.00, to which shall be added the cost of prosecution.
