HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 0488 - Bargaining Agent for Non-Represented EmployeesCITY OF FOLLOWS: That the Unincorporated Society of Tukwila Municipal Employees, hereinafter referred to as "USTME," be and is hereby recognized as the representative and bargaining agent for all USTME members. That an annual written agreement, to be accomplished prior to 1 December of the year preceding that year in which said agreement shall apply, be entered into by the City of Tukwila and USTME to define any fringe benefits and general salary increase to be received by USTME members during the year for which said agreement is made. That a petition of June 27, 1975 presented by USTME members and letters deleting the names of five USTME members be and are hereby attached as Exhibit "A PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON at a regular meeting thereof this 21st day of July 1975 Attest: WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 488 RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE UNINCORPORATED SOCIETY OF TUKWILA MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES AS A BARGAINING AGENT FOR ALL NON -UNION EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA. Mayor will not approve Shirlee Kinney City Clerk NOW PETITION TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA: WHEREAS the undersigned are full -time employees of the City of Tukwila, and THEREFORE (a.Xi,l8, Al 11 COME: NOW THE UNDERSIGNED TO DECLARE THAT: Whereas the undersigned have aggregated, adopted By -Laws, created and maintained for a period of one (1) calendar year a group known as the Unincorporated Society of Tukwila Municipal Employees, hereinafter referred to as "USTME and Whereas the members of USTME do not desire to be absorbed by any other form of labor representa- tion, and Whereas USTME desires to be recognized by the City Council of the City of Tukwila as the rep- resentative and bargaining agent for the members of USTME, and Whereas all signatures herein contained are made with the free consent and in accordance with the desire of each signer to declare their agreement with all declarations and prayers herein contained; I The members of USTME hereby declare their desire to create and maintain USTME in lieu of absorp- tion by any other means of labor representation. II The members of USTME hereby respectfully request the City Council of the City of Tukwila recognize USTME as the representative and bargaining agent for all USTME members. III The members of USTME hereby respectfully request that an annual written agreement, to be accomp- lished prior to 1 December of the year preceding the year in which said agreement shall apply, be entered into by the City of Tukwila and USTME to define any fringe benefits and general salary increase to be received by USTME members during the year for which said agreement is made. City of Tukwila Tukwila, Washington 98067 Dear Gary: Following the U.S.T.M.E. meeting of June 11, 1975, we have carefully considered our action in signing the petition under cover of your letter to Council President Traynor dated June 27, 1975. It is our desire at this time to withdraw our signatures from the petition. Tukwila, Washington 98067 Ladies and gentlemen: With regard to Resolution 488, recognizing U.S.T.M.E. as a bargaining agent for non -union employees of the City, I question the affect this Resolution will have as to benefits it will provide to employees on the basis of fair treatment and so forth. I cannot sign the Resolution due to the questions I have at this time.
