Sound area in the 1850's was unusual in our country's military history; and,
WHEREAS, the blockhouse built in Tukwila was named Fort Dent in honor
of then Captain Frederick Dent, later General Dent, brother -in -law to
President Ulysess S. Grant; and,
WHEREAS, this historic event should be remembered by all; and,
WHEREAS, these facts have been brought to our attention by the outstand-
ing historic research by the officers and men of the 365th Army Reserve Unit
Area (B), Seattle;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA:
That the Tukwila City Council respectfully recommends to the King County
Council that the county facility hereto referred to as "South King County Area
Park which is located within the City of Tukwila, be formally named
"Tukwila Fort Dent Park
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,, WASHINGTON, at a
regular meeting thereof, this 18th day of August 1975
A RESOLUTION recommending to the King County
Council that the park facility known as the
South King County Area Park be formally
named Tukwila Fort Dent Park.
