SPECIAL MEETING CALL TO ORDER/PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Mayor Haggerton called the Special Tukwila City Council Meeting to order at 9:46 p.m. directly following the Committee of the Whole meeting. ROLL CALL Barbara Saxton, Administrative Support Coordinator, called the roll of the Council. Present were Councilmembers Joe Duffie, Dennis Robertson, Verna Seal, Allan Ekberg, Kathy Hougardy, De'Sean Quinn and Kate Kruller. CITY OFFICIALS Jim Haggerton, Mayor; David Cline, City Administrator; Bob Giberson, Public Works Director; Kimberly Matej, Government Relations; Laurel Humphrey, Council Analyst; Barbara Saxton, Administrative Support Coordinator. NEW BUSINESS A resolution of the City Council of the City of Tukwila expressing strong support for the State Legislature to pass a 2013 Transportation Investment Package. MOVED BY ROBERTSON, SECONDED BY SEAL THAT THE PROPOSED RESOLUTION BE READ BY TITLE ONLY. MOTION CARRIED 7 -0. Barbara Saxton, Administrative Support Coordinator, read the proposed resolution by title only. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA EXPRESSING STRONG SUPPORT FOR THE STATE LEGISLATURE TO PASS A 2013 TRANSPORTATION INVESTMENT PACKAGE. MOVED BY ROBERTSON, SECONDED BY DUFFIE THAT THE PROPOSED RESOLUTION BE ADOPTED AS READ.* Councilmember Robertson noted that the 11 Whereas clauses in the ordinance speak to the importance of transportation to Tukwila and the region. Other agencies that support the package include Sound Cities Association and the cities of Kent, Renton, Shoreline, Kirkland, Kenmore and Auburn. He explained that the legislature's special session will be ending soon, so it is important to forward this resolution to them in time. Councilmember Kruller stated that Sound Cities Association brought this issue to the Council's attention. Adding Tukwila's voice to the regional and coordinated resolutions by other cities was felt to be the best approach, and also supports the City's legislative agenda adopted for 2013. She expressed appreciation for the support of City Administration and the City Clerk's Office in moving this issue forward on an expedited basis. *MOTION CARRIED 7 -0 TO ADOPT RESOLUTION NUMBER 1795.
