APPLICATION SUBMITTAL In order to ensure that your application is accepted for plan review, please make sure to fill out the
application completely and follow the plan submittal checklist on the reverse side of this form. Handouts are available at
the Building counter which provide more detailed information on application and plan submittal requirements.
Application and plans must be complete in order to be accepted for plan review.
VALUATION OF CONSTRUCTION Valuation for new construction and additions are calculated by the Department of
Community Development prior to application submittal. Contact the Permit Coordinator at 431 -3670 prior to submitting
application. In all cases, a valuation amount should be entered by the applicant. This figure will be reviewed and is
subject to possible revision by the Building Division to comply with current fee schedules.
BUILDING OWNER / AUTHORIZED AGENT If the applicant is otherthtn the owner, registered architect/engineer, or contractor
licensed by the State of Washington, a notarized letter from the property owne- authorizing the agent to submit this
permit application and obtain the permit will be required as part of this submittal.
EXPIRATION OF PLAN REVIEW Applications for which no permit is issued within 180 days following the date of application shall
expire by limitations. The building official may extend the time for action by the applicant for a period not exceeding 180
days upon written request by the applicant as defined in Section 304(d) of the Uniform Building Code (current edition).

1. MAIN ENTRY DOOR: A floor landing is required on each side of the door.
Such landing shall have a width not less than the width of the stairway or the width of the
door, whichever is the greater. The length of landing (in direction of travel) shall not be
less than 36- inches.
2. STAIRS: Dwelling entry stairs and interior stairs shall have a minimum width not
less than 36- inches. Stair rise shall not exceed 8- inches and stair run shall be not less than
10- inches (measured horizontally between the vertical planes of the furthermost projection
of adjacent treads). Handrail(s) shall be provided on at least one side of each stair run.
The top of handrail shall be located not less than 34- inches or more than 38- inches above
the nosing of treads and landings.
3. SMOKE DETECTORS: Smoke detectors shall be installed in each sleeping room
and at a point centrally located in the corridor or area giving access to each separate
sleeping area. A detector is also required at the lower floor level. Detectors shall receive
their primary power from the building wiring and shall be equipped with a battery backup.
4. GARAGE ACCESS: Door leading from dwelling to garage must be not less than
1 -3/8" solid wood door, tight fitting and equipped with self closing hardware.
5. GARAGE / DWELLING SEPARATION: Gypsum wallboard finish at garage
must be specified as Type "X" . Application of this protection must include all walls and
ceiling , in addition to.posts and beams which support the upper floor.
6. DECK FRAMING: Structural members of the exterior deck (joists, beams, posts)
which are expose to weather without adequate protection to prevent moisture or water
accumulation on the surface or at joints between members, shall be treated wood or
approved wood of natural resistance to decay.
7. W.S.E.C: For prescriptive compliance option II, wall between dwelling and
garage space shall be installed with min. R =15 thermal insulation. A vapor retarder is
required.
8. STORAGE AREAS UNDER STAIRS: Walls and ceiling of under stair storage
areas shall be protected with, minimum, 5/8" Type "X" gypsum wallboard.
9. FURNACE INSTALLATION: Proposed closet space for furnace installation
shall be not less than 12- inches wider than the furnace width . The furnace shall be
installed to provide not less than 3- inches of clear working space along sides, btlfs19# TUKWILA

10. WATER HEATER: In seismic zone 3, water heaters shall be anchored or
strapped to resist horizontal displacement due to earthquake motion. The required
pressure relief valve shall be provided with a drain, not smaller than the relief valve outlet,
shall extend from the valve to the outside of the building with the end of the pipe not more
than two feet nor less than six inches above the ground and pointing downward. No part
of such drain pipe shall be trapped and the terminal end of the drain pipe shall not be
threaded.
11. W.S.E.C: R= 10 ridged insulation is required at all concrete slab perimeter of
heated spaces. Insulation shall extend down from top of slab to the bottom, then
underneath the slab toward the conditioned space.

We have completed our review of the above project. It appears that
no PW permits are necessary.
The only requirement for storm drainage is that splash blocks be
used in conjunction with roof downspouts. According to information
provided by Mr. Whang, the land altering ordinance will not apply.
Less than 50 cubic yards of material will be hauled. And finally,
the driveway access permit is under the jurisdiction of the City of
SeaTac.

The Fire Prevention Bureau and are acceptable with the
following concerns:
1. Your street address must be conspicuously posted on
the building and shall be plainly visible and legible from
the street. Numbers shall contrast with their background.

2. Every building shall be accessible to Fire Department
apparatus by way of access roadways with all- weather
driving surface of not less than 20' wide and 13'6"
vertical clearance. Access roads in excess of 150' shall
be provided with an approved turn - around area. Access
shall be within 150' of all portions of the buildings.
