VALUATION OF CONSTRUCTION Valuation for new construction and additions are calculated by the Department of Community Development prior to application submittal. Contact the Permit Coordinator at 431 -3670 prior to submitting application. In all cases, a valuation amount should be entered by the applicant. This figure will be reviewed and is subject to possible revision by the Building Division to comply with current fee schedules. BUILDING OWNER / AUTHORIZED AGENT If the applicant is other than the owner, registered architect/engineer, or contractor licensed by the State of Washington, a notarized letter from the property owner authorizing the agent to submit this permit application and obtain the permit will be required as part of this submittal. EXPIRATION OF PLAN REVIEW Applications for which no permit is issued within 180 days following the date of application shall expire by limitations. The building official may extend the time for action by the applicant for a period not exceeding 180 days upon written request by the applicant as defined in Section 304(d) of the Uniform Building Code (current edition). No application shall be extended more than once. SMOKE DETECTORS: Smoke detectors shall be installed in each sleeping room and at a point centrally located in the corridor or area giving access to each separate sleeping area. A detector is also required at the lower floor level. Detectors shall receive their primary power from the building wiring and shall be equipped with a battery backup. 3. FURNACE INSTALLATION: Furnace shall be installed with not less than 3- inches of clear working space along sides, back and top of furnace. WATER HEATER: In seismic zone 3, water heaters shall be anchored or strapped to resist horizontal displacement due to earthquake motion. The required pressure relief valve shall be provided with a drain, not smaller than the relief valve outlet, shall extend from the valve to the outside of the building with the end of the pipe not more than two feet nor less than six inches above the ground and pointing downward. No part of such drain pipe shall be trapped and the terminal end of the drain pipe shall not be threaded. 10. Every building shall be accessible to Fire Department apparatus by way of access roadways with all- weather driving surface of not less than 20' wide and 13'6" vertical clearance. Access roads in excess of 150' shall be provided with an approved turn- around area. Access shall be within 150' of all portions of the buildings. (UFC 10.203,204 as amended) Tukwila City Ordinance #1671 provides that the required width of any fire apparatus road (fire lane) shall not be obstructed in any manner, including the parking of vehicles.
