HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 0628 - Cooperative Interlocal Agreement - Back Up Vehicle for Valley Medical I UnitCITY OF A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN AN AGREEMENT FOR A COOPERATIVE ACTION BACK -UP "VEHICLE" FOR VALLEY MEDIC I UNIT. WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila is a member of the provider group under an Interlocal Cooperative Act Agreement executed September 27, 1977, for a Mobile Intensive Care Unit to service the Tukwila area, and WHEREAS, the City has been asked to make a back -up "vehicle" available for use by the Medic I Unit of Valley General Hospital. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Agproved as to form: The Tukwila City Council hereby authorizes the Mayor to sign an Interlocal Cooperative Act Agreement for Cooperative Action Back -up "Vehicle" for Valley Medic I Unit. A copy of said agreement is attached hereto and incorporated by reference. ATTEST: Deputy City Attorney WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO 628 COUNCIL ACTION DATE INTERLOCAL COOPERATION ACT AGREEMENT FOR COOPERATIVE ACTION BACK -UP "Vehicle" FOR VALLEY FDIC I UNIT This Agreement is entered into on the 23 day of /11 A 1978, between the following municipal corporations located in King County, Washington: Public Hospital District No. 1 of King County (Valley General Hospital) City of Tukwila, King County, Washington. 1. Duration and Termination. 2. Procedure. Authority The municipal corporations, exercising the powers granted to them by statute, enter into this Agreement: under the provisions of the Interlocal Cooperation Act, R.C.W. Chapter 39.34. Purpose Public Hospital District No. 1 of King County, as lead agency, has entered into an Emergency Medical. Services Contract with King County to provide a Mobile Intensive Care Unit with paramedic personnel to service an area designated by the County as Service Area 5-Southeast. City of Tukwila is within such service area and is a member of the provider group under a Inter -local Cooperation Act Agree t:ent for Cooperative Action executed September 27, 1977, which is now in effect. It is the purpose of this Agreement to make a "back -up" vehicle available for use by the Medic I Unit of Valley General Hospital, in carrying out its emergency functions, at such times as the Valley Medic I vehicle is not available for service. To accomplish this purpose it is agreed as follows: The term of this Agreement shall be from the Z 3 day of /y7 /9 1978 through December 31, 1978; provided however, that the Agreement shall be renewed from year to year unless written notice of termination of the Agreement. Either party to this Agreement shall have the right to cancel this Agreement after 30 days written notice has been given to the other party. The Hospital District, through its personnel in Valley Medic I Unit, shall be entitled to borrow an emergency vehicle belonging to the City of Tukwila as needed to carry out its emergency functions at such time as the Valley Medic I vehicle is not available for service. When an vehicle is so needed, a member of the staff of Valley Medic I Unit shall contact either the Fire Chief or Assistant Chief, or their designate for authority 2. Procedure cont' d. to use the vehicle, which authority is to be confirmed in writing as soon as time permits, as well as the mileage on the vehicle to be loaned as of the time possession of same is taken by Valley Medic I Unit. 3. Operation of the Vehicle on loan. The vehicle on loan shall be operated only by Valley Medic I Unit personnel and /or City of Tukwila personnel. 4. Insurance. The Hospital District shall provide liability and physical damage to- vehicle insurance coverage on the Citys' vehicle, and on City of Tukwila's personnel who may operate it. during the period that such vehicle is on loan to the Valley Medic I Unit. 5. Compensation to the City gasoline. The Hospital District shall compensate the City at the rate of fifteen cents (15) for each mile the vehicle on loan from the City is driven, while on loan to the Valley Medic I Unit. Such sum shall be paid by the Hospital District unto the City of Tukwila on the 20th day of the month following each month that a City vehicle is on loan to the Valley Medic I Unit. Gasoline for operation of the City unit, while on loan to the Valley Medic I Unit, shall be supplied by the Hospital District. Further, the cost. of all maintenance and repairs to the unit, occasioned by reason of the loan thereof to the' Valley Medic I Unit, shall be paid by the Hospital District. 6. Area to be served by vehicle on loan. The Unit of the City of Tukwila on loan to the Valley Medic I Unit shall be used to meet the needs for emergency services of the area designated by King County as "service area 5- Southeast as described in the 1978 contract between Valley General Hospital and King County.
