GENERAL NOTES
1. The gen=eral contractor shall supervise all construction activities and verif,
compliance with these drawings, notes, and the following codes:

3. Occupancy Group: R3 •
4. Written dimensions shall be verified by the contractor before
proceeding. The designer must be notified of any variations from the
notes and drawings. Dimensions shown are typically to the face of
framing unless otherwise indicated. Do not scale drawings for critical
dimensions. Verify criticaldimensions, datum and levels prior to
commencing work. Report errors and omissions to the designer prior
to commencing work. •
5. Weather restrictive barriers shall Building Code Section 1707 (a-d)
6. Attic Venilatio -o 1/150 of attic area or 1/300 if using one -half soffit
vents and ore -half roof vents (roof vents must be 3' above plate line).
Openings shall be covered with corrosion resistant metal mesh openings
of -4" in dimension.
7. Egress in every bedroom shall have a min. net opening. of 5.7 sq. ft.
The min. net opening height dimension shall be 24" net clear opening
width dimension. of 20" and a 'finish sill height of not more than 44"
above the floor. -- --
8. Garage and house occupancy separation to be min. 1 hour taped wall
with a self closing tight fitting solid wood door, .1 -3/8" thickness.
9. Fireplace code compliance per UBC, chapter 37, local Building
Department and requiranents of the manufacturer. Mewl fireplaces to
be U.L., I.C.B.O. approved.
10. Glazing must comply with UBC standards and Washington State
Safety Glass Law. Exceptions are outlined in section 5406, UBC.
11. Glazing locations subject to human impact, such as: glass doors,
glazing- within 12" of door openings, and glazing closer than 18"
to a floor shall be tempered glass or laminated safety glass.
12. Stair Notes: min. head room 6 -8 ". Tread 9" min. Riser 8" max.
Handrail tote 1i" cross section and 1'i" awayfrnnn;c'all. Install
fireblockiig at mid stringer span and at wall along stringer.
Cover useable space under stair with 5/8" type 'x, gypsum board •
13. Provide deadbolt.(} "throw and ';" penetration)_atentrance doors.
14. Approved locking devices shall be installed over all operable windows.
15. Provide door porthole at 54 -66" above finish floor in front door.
16. Required 'smoke detectors shall receive their primary from the
building wiring..Wiring shall be permanent and without disconnecting
`_ switch, other than those required for'overcurrent protection.

STRUCTURAL NOTES:
1. The following structural notes are supplementary and not intended
to supercede the specifications and /or details that are shown on the
drawings.
2. Design roads:
Roof (snow) 25 psf live load
Floors (living) 40 psf live load
Decks 60 psf live load
Stairs, Exits, Corridors 100 psf live load

3. Soil and Foundation Data:
(a) Soil bearing information is not available for this design. Assume
soil bearing capacity is 2000 psf.
(b) Extend all footings down to undisturbed soil of the assumed
bearing capacity, with a min. of 18" below finished grade
or as shown on drawings.
(0) Center all footings on columns and walls above unless
sdecifically noted on drawings.
(:1) Compacted fill to be well graded and granular with not more than
59 passing a 200 sieve. Place 8" loose lifts and compact to 95%
A:Odified AASHO density at optimum moisture content.
4. Cast in Place Concrete:
(a) Concrete of the following 28 day strenght
2000 psi (5 sack cement /yd. max. 6 gal. water/ sack) for all structal
concrete, including foundations and slab on grade. Max. size
aggregate 1 -j" max. slump 4 ". Add Master Builder Pozzolith per
mfg. racatmendations to all concrete except footings.
(b) Reinforcing steel ASTM A -615 grade 60
=Detail, fabricate and place in accordance with the latest edition of
A.C.I. "Manual of Standard Practice ".
(c) Concrete cover on reinforcing steel(clear dimension)

(d) Lap all field splices 24 diameters with a min. of 12" or use
corner bars at all corners and wall intersections
(e) Provide two cont. #4 bars in the top of all exterior
foundation walls where exposed to view. Min. footing
reinforcing two 84 cont. bars, or as noted on drawings.
(f) Minimum reinforcing steel in slabs on grade 6x6 w1.4 x w1.4
WWF lap one full mesh. Provide control joints where shown
on drawings with a max. spacing of 30' -0"
(g) Vibrate all concrete. Segregation of materials to be prevented,
Trst cylinders are not required.
