HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 0647 - 1978 General Election - Oppose Merger Between Metro & King County I RESOLUTION NO. 647 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, DECLARING OPPOSITION TO.PLACEMENT OF THE QUESTION OF WHETHER A MERGER SHOULD TAKE PLACE BETWEEN METRO AND THE KING COUNTY GOVERNMENT ON THE NOVEMBER 1978 GENERAL ELECTION BALLOT. WHEREAS, the King County Council has recently established a Citizens Task Force to determine if the question of whether to merge the functions of Metro with those of King County government should be placed on the November 1978 General Election Ballot, and WHEREAS, the Task Force has conducted meetings and surveys to gather information for its report, and WHEREAS, the question of representation under such a merger is unclear as it would effect the general public and jurisdictions within King County, and WHEREAS, the assertion that efficiency in government would be promoted under merger is not substantiated. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, �IWASHINGTON,.DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City of Tukwila opposes placement of the Metro County Merger question on the Fall 1978 General Election Ballot. Section 2. The City Clerk for the City of Tukwila is authorized and directed to provide conformed copies of this resolution to the King County Council, the Citizens Task Force, the Metro Council, the Suburban Mayors Association and to the governing bodies of such other local jurisdictions as may be appropriate PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, at a regular meeting thereof this
