RESOLUTION NO. 676 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, ACCEPTING AND
APPROVING A PETITION FOR ANNEXATION AND AUTHORIZING THE COMMENCE-
MENT OF AN ANNEXATION, PROCEEDING BY THE ELECTION METHOD OF A
PORTION OF THE UNINCORPORATED PLANNING AREA KNOWN AS "ALLENTOWN
AND REFERRING THE QUESTION OF A PROPOSED ZONING REGULATION TO
THE PLANNING COMMISSION.
WHEREAS, a petition has been filed with the legislative body of
the City of Tukwila calling for an election to vote upon the annexation of
certain unincorporated territory contiguous to the City of Tukwila, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tukwila has determined
that the best interests and general welfare of the City of Tukwila would be
served by the annexation of a portion of said unincorporated territory
contiguous to the City, commonly referred to as "Allentown and vicinity"
and more particularly described in Exhibit "A which is attached hereto
and by this reference incorporated herein; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk of the City of Tukwila has filed with
the City Council Certificate of Sufficiency of the petition pursuant to the
provisions of RCW 35A.14.020; and
WHEREAS, an environmental questionnaire form and declaration of
non significance were reviewed on this proposal and considered during the
decision deliberations; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tukwila has determined
that the annexation proceedings should be initiated within the provisions of
RCW 35A.14.020 providing for the election method,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TU KWILA, WASHINGTON,
DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The petition submitted by certain qualified electors
residing in a portion of unincorporated territory contiguous to the City of
Tukwila, commonly referred to as "Allentown and vicinity the legal description
of which and a map describing which are attached hereto as Exhibit A and
Exhibit B, respectively, for annexation into the City of Tukwila, as certified
as sufficient by the City Clerk, is hereby accepted and approved.
Section 2. Annexation proceedings by the election method shall be
commenced as provided in RCW 35A.14.020, and any amendments thereto.
Section 3. An election shall be held among the qualified voters
in the subject annexation area upon the question of annexation. The City of
Tukwila shall pay all costs of conducting this election.
Section 4. As a portion of said annexation election, the City of
Tukwila shall propose to the electorate of the subject annexation area the
proposition that upon annexation, all property within the area to be annexed
shall be assessed and taxed at the same rate and on the same basis as is the
property of the City of Tukwila assessed and taxed to pay for any then out-
standing indebtedness of the City, contracted to or existing at the date of
annexation.
Section 5. The matter of a proposed zoning regulation for the
Allentown area is referred to the Planning Commission with the intent that a
proposed zoning regulation is to be adopted and filed with the King County
Auditor pursuant to RCW 35A.14.340 and that it shall be adopted simultaneously
upon the approval of the annexation by the electorate of the area to be annexed.

ALLENTOWN ANNEXATION
Beginning at the intersection of the Easterly line of State Sign Route No. 99 at
its intersection with the main stream of the Duwamish River in Section 9, Town-
ship 23 North, Range 4 East, Willamette Meridian;
Thence Easterly and Southerly along the said centerline of the main stream of
the Duwamish River to its intersection with the Easterly margin of 42nd Avenue
South;
Thence easterly along said conterline of the main stream of the Duwamish River
to its intersection with the southwesterly prolongation of the northwesterly
line of lot 32, in block 13, Allentown Addition to the City of Seattle, accord-
ing to plat recorded in volume 12 of plats, page 100, in King County, Washington;
Thence northeasterly, along said southwesterly prolongation and along said
northwesterly line of lot 32, to the most northerly corner of said lot;
Thence southeasterly,'along the northeasterly line of said block 13 and its
southeasterly prolongation to the centerline of the main stream of the Duwamish
River;
Thence generally southerly along the said centerline of the main stream of the
Duwamish River to its intersection with the southeasterly prolongation of the
south westerly margin of South 133rd Street;
Thence northwesterly along the southwesterly margin of South 133rd Street to its
intersection with the southeasterly margin of 56th Avenue South;
Thence northeasterly along the southeasterly margin of 56th Avenue South to its
intersection with the northeasterly line of lot 51, East Riverton Garden Tracts
Second Addition;
Thence southeasterly along said northeasterly line of lot 51 to its intersection
with the southeasterly margin of 57th Avenue South;
Thence northeasterly along the southeasterly margin of said 57th Avenue South to
its intersection with the northeasterly line of lot 1, Riverside Park;
Thence, southeasterly along the northeasterly margin of said lot 1 and its pro-
longation to the centerline of the main stream of the Duwamish River;
Thence southeasterly and northerly along the present corporate limits of the
City of Tukwila to its point of intersection with the southwesterly right -of -way
line of the Burlington Northern Railway;
Thence northwesterly along said southwesterly right-of-way line of the Burlington
Northern Railway to its intersection with the northwesterly margin of Interstate
Highway 5;
Thence northerly and westerly along said westerly line of Interstate Highway 5 to
the north line of Section 10, Township 23 North, Range 4 East, Willamette Meridian;

Thence westerly along the said northerly line of Section 10 to the section line
common with the northwestern most point of Section 9, Township 23 North, Range 4
East, Willamette Meridian;
Thence continuing westerly along the north line of Section 9, Township 23 North,
Range 4 to the easterly margin of State Sign Route No. 99; (Pacific Highway
South);
Thence southerly along said easterly margin of State Sign Route No. 99 to the
centerline of the main stream of the Duwamish River and the point of beginning.
