RESOLUTION NO. 686
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUK!WILA,
,WASHINGTON, REQUESTING THE !WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT
OF TRANSPORTATION TO CONDUCT A REGIONAL TRAFFIC STUDY.
!WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila is experiencing severe traffic
congestion problems, and
WHEREAS, a substantial contributing factor to the traffic
congestion is development in areas outside the city limits over which
the city has no control, and
1,4HEREAS, continued development without a comprehensive regional
traffic circulation plan will result in still further congestion with an
attendant increase in traffic accidents, injuries, deaths and property
damage, and
(WHEREAS, no such comprehensive regional traffic circulation
plan exists for the greater Tukwila area, and the City of Tukwila has
been informed that the Department of Transportation has no plans to
conduct the type of regional traffic study which would be required to
formulate a comprehensive regional traffic circulation plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
!WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the State of Washington, Department of
Transportation be and hereby is requested to implement a
regional traffic study.
Section 2. That as a minimum the study should include
generally that area between Highway 99 to the west and
the Burlington Northern Railroad Tracks to the east, and
between South 112th Street (Seattle Transmission Line right
of -way) to the north and South 200th Street to the south.
Section 3. That fang County and the cities of Penton, Kent,
and Auburn are encouraged to join in this request.
