RESOLUTION NO. 687
A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING CONCERN ABOUT WA TER USAGE AND
ACCESS TO THE GREEN /DUWAMISH RIVER.
WHEREAS, the Green /Duwamish River is a vital physical feature
of the City of Tukwila, and
WHEREAS, this River now provides recreational opportunities to
the citizens of the City and the region, and
WHEREAS, the River also is a vital part of the metro Sanitation
?Taste hater Disposal System, and
WHEREAS, the ability of the River to successfully provide for
all of these multiple uses, it must maintain an adequate flow at all times
of the year.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, I;IASHINGTON,
DO HEREBY RESOLVE AS'.FOLLOWS:
1. It is the policy of the City that it opposes any action taken
by other agencies that will adversely effect the flow of the Green/
Duwamish River which will diminish the ability of the River to
provide recreational experiences, fisheries, flushing action or
visual amenities. The City also opposes any action which diminishes
without comparable mitigation access to the River for recreational
experiences.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor is authorized to take action
allowed within the laws of the State and of the City to carry out
the policy of the.Council.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON,
