A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, SUPPORTING THE TUKWILA SCHOOL DISTRICT
NUMBER 406, AND URGING ALL ELIGIBLE VOTERS TO VOTE FOR
SCHOOLS IN THE FEBRUARY 5, 2002 SPECIAL ELECTION.
WHEREAS, the Tukwila School District will hold a Maintenance and Operations Levy
vote on February 5, 2002; and
WHEREAS, the levy passage is needed to fund school district programs not covered by
State funding which covers only 68% of the cost of basic education; and
WHEREAS, some programs covered by the levy are smaller classes, school athletics,
bus transportation, English as a Second Language, and Special Education; and
WHEREAS, the levy is a replacement tax needed every two years, and is not an
increase in taxes; and
WHEREAS, it is important that schools receive community support in order to provide
children the best education they can get;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
The City of Tukwila supports the Tukwila School District school program levy election
to be held February 5, 2002, and urges all eligible voters to vote for schools in the special
election.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL L OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, at a
Special Meeting thereof this day of 2002.
