RESOLUTION NO. 734
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATIONS FOR FUNDING
ASSISTANCE FOR AN OUTDOOR RECREATION PROJECT TO THE
INTERAGENCY COMMITTEE FOR OUTDOOR RECREATION AS
PROVIDED BY THE MARINE RECREATION LAND ACT.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tukwila has approved a
"Comprehensive Park and Recreation Plan" for the urban area which identifies
a pedestrian /bicycle pathway on the Green River in the southern portion of the
city as number one priority, and;
WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Marine Recreation Land Act,
state and federal funding assistance has been authorized and made available to
aid in financing the cost of land for parks and the construction of outdoor
recreational facilities of local public bodies; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tukwila considers it in
the best public interest to develop a pedestrian /bicycle pathway in the southern
part of the city generally located on the west side of the Green River between
Interstate 405 and South 180th Street on what is commonly referred to as Christen-
sen Road.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON,
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the Mayor be authorized to make formal applica-
tion to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation for fund assistance.
Section 2. That any fund assistance so received be used to con-
struct a pedestrian /bicycle overpass and associated improvements over Inter-
state 405 to be located to the East of the T -Line Bridge
in the southern part of the City of Tukwila, Washington.
Section 3. That any property acquired with financial aid through
the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation be placed in use as an outdoor
recreation facility and be retained in such use in perpetuity unless as otherwise
provided and agreed to by the City Council, the Interagency Committee for Outdoor
Recreation, and any affected federal agency
Section 4. That this resolution become part of a formal application
to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation.
Section 5. That City of Tukwila funds be budged in the 1981 Annual
Budget identifyingTthe Land Acquisition, Building and Development Fund as the- source
for any required matching funds.
