The total. number of fire extinguishers required for your establishment is calculated at one extinguisher for each 3000 sq. ft. of area. The extinguisher(s) should be of the "All Purpose" (2A, 10B:C) dry chemical type. Travel distance to any fire extinguisher must be 75' or less. (NFPA 10, 3 -1.1) Fire extinguishers require monthly and yearly inspections. They must have a tag or label securely attached that indicates the month and year that the inspection was performed and shall identify the company or person performing the service. (NFPA 10, 4 -3, 4 -4 and 4 -4.3) Every six years, dry chemical and halon type fire extinguishers shall be emptied and subjected to the applicable recharge procedures. (NFPA 10, 4 -4.1) If the required monthly and yearly inspections of the fire extinguisher(s) are not accomplished or the inspection tag is not completed, a reputable fire extinguisher service company will be required to conduct these required surveys. Dear Mr. Chen: The initial review has been competed by Tukwila Building Division. Prior to approval of this review, additional clarifications and/or revisions to the plans will be necessary to document compliance with Tukwila ordinances. The following comments are applicable: 1. The redevelopment of this tenant space results in the creation of an exit system which is essentially a corridor that extends from Reception # 101 to Reception # 114. This exit pathway has to be considered under the code provisions for an exit corridor since to do otherwise would acknowledge exiting through an excessive number of adjoining rooms. Under the Uniform Building Code requirements for exit corridors, there are various provisions that apply to this exit system and these requirements must be shown on the plans. Please refer to IBC Sec. 3305 (g) & (11) specifically and note or detail a proposed method of compliance on the plans. 2. Provide construction details to show proposed construction methods for the new suspended gypsumboard ceiling. In addition, provide detail for lateral bracing of any new suspended ceiling system. 3. Provide details or notes to plan which specify the requirements of the accessible shower stall. (grab bars, seat, dimensions etc.) Refer UBC 3106 (k) 4.
