AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, AMENDING
SECTION 2.04.230 OF THE TUKWILA MUNICIPAL CODE,
SETTING CITY COUNCIL SALARIES AND
COMPENSATION, AND REPEALING ORDINANCE 1102.
WHEREAS, City Council salaries were set at $400 per month by Ordinance 1354
adopted July 1, 1985, and
WHEREAS, Ordinance 1431 added medical benefits for those elected after it's
passage on June 1, 1987, and
WHEREAS, Ordinance 1637 increased City Council salaries to $500 per month and
added cost of living increases, and
WHEREAS, differences in Council salaries could be equalized if future Council
members all received the same salaries and benefits,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, DO HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Compensation. Section 2.04.230 of the Tukwila Municipal Code is
hereby amended to read as follows:
A. Pursuant to the provisions of RCW 35A.12.070, each member of the City
Council of the City of Tukwila whose term of office commenced on or after
the effective date of Ordinance 1354 passed July 1, 1985, but before the
effective date of Ordinance 1637 passed October 19, 1992, shall be
compensated at the rate of $400 per month for the remainder of the term then
being served by the incumbent.
B. Pursuant to the provisions of RCW 35A.12.070, each member of the City
Council of the City of Tukwila whose term of office commences on or after
the effective date of Ordinance 1637 passed October 19, 1992 and codified in
this section, shall be compensated at the basic rate of $500 per month, and
shall include any accumulated CPI -W increases awarded since the beginning
of 1994. Beginning January 1, 1994, Council salaries for all members elected
after the effective date of Ordinance 1637 shall be increased annually by 90
percent of the CPI -W for the Seattle area, calculated on a July to July basis.
C. Each member of the City Council whose term of office commences on or after
the effective date of Ordinance 1431 passed June 1, 1987 shall be eligible to
receive reimbursement from the city for medical, dental, vision care and life
insurance premiums, deductibles, and expenses incurred by the member, up
to a maximum amount of twelve hundred dollars in any calendar year
Reimbursement shall be made only upon presentation of a receipt or other
evidence that the expense was actually incurred to the Finance Director All
reimbursement payments made under this section shall be a fringe benefit
accruing to the member by virtue of employment with the city and shall not
be considered part of the member's salary or wages.
Section 2. Severability. If any section, sentence, dause or phrase of this ordinance
should be held to be invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, such
invalidity or unconstitutionality shall not affect the validity or constitutionality of any other
section, sentence, dause or phrase of this ordinance.
Section 3. Repealer. Ordinance 1102 is hereby repealed.
Section 4. Effective Date. This ordinance or a summary thereof shall be published
in the official newspaper of the City, and shall take effect and be in full force five (5) days
after passage and publication a provided by law

TUKWILA MUNICIPAL CODE, SETTING CITY COUNCIL
SALARIES AND COMPENSATION, AND REPEALING
ORDINANCE 1102.
On ,0 9 the City Council of the City of Tukwila passed Ordinance
No. 2 6 7 amending Council compensation provisions, providing for severability and
establishing an effective date.
The full text of this ordinance will be mailed without charge to anyone who submits a
written request to the City Clerk of the City of Tukwila for a copy of the text.
