HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 1645 - New Construction and Tenant Improvements (Repealed by Ord 1901) S ILA �Vq i ts sa s i C ity o Tu Washington �o T Ordinance No. AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, ESTABLISHING REINSPECTION FEES FOR NEW CONSTRUCTION, TENANT IMPROVEMENT, AND COMPANY LEVEL INSPECTIONS IN BUILDINGS AND TENANT SPACES WITHIN THE CITY OF TUKWILA, AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council desires to utilize its personnel resources in the most efficient manner; and WHEREAS, increased demands have reduced the time available to complete inspections in a timely manner; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, HEREBY ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Reinspection Fees for New Construction and Tenant Improvements. A reinspection fee of $40.00 will be assessed when an inspection is requested for new construction and tenant improvements and, upon arrival, the fire inspector finds that the work is not complete, not ready for inspection, or does not comply with fire code requirements. Under these conditions, a follow -up inspection will be required. The reinspection fee shall be paid prior to the follow -up inspection, and the paid receipt shall be at the job site. Section 2. Reinspection Fees for Company Level Inspections. A reinspection fee of $40.00 will be assessed when, on the follow -up inspection 30 days after the initial company level inspection, the inspectors find the violations have not been corrected. The reinspection fee shall be paid prior to a second reinspection, and the receipt shall be available for the inspectors to see. Section 3. Exceptions. Any exception to the items covered by this ordinance shall be made by the Chief of the department or by the fire marshal. Requests for exceptions must be made in writing; exceptions granted or denied shall be in writing. Section 4. Penalties. Any person violating the provisions of this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, be punished by a fine of not more than $500.00 (five hundred dollars) or by imprisonment for not more than 90 (ninety) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. Section 5. Severability. If any section, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance should be held to be invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity or unconstitutionality shall not affect the validity or constitutionality of any other section, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance. Section 6. Effective Date. This ordinance or a summary thereof shall be published in the official newspaper of the City, and shall take effect and be in full force five (5) days after passage and publication as provided by law. On 4 7- ,9 2 the City Council of the City of Tukwila passed Ordinance No. /6 e/ 5 establishing reinspection fees for new construction, tenant improvement, and company level inspections in buildings and tenant spaces with the City, and establishing an effective date.
