AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, RELATING
TO RATES DUE FOR WATER AND REPEALING TMC 14.04.240(d), AS
ADOPTED BY ORDINANCE 1190, ALLOWING A DISCOUNT OF TWENTY
FIVE CENTS; AMENDING TMC 14.04.260, AS ADOPTED BY ORDINANCE
1407, RELATING TO RATES OUTSIDE THE CITY; AMENDING TMC
14.04.270, AS ADOPTED BY ORDINANCE 264, RELATING TO PAYMENT
OF CHARGES DELINQUENCY; AND REPEALING SECTION I 24(b) OF
ORDINANCE 1190 AND AMENDING ORDINANCES 264, AND 1407.
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to have in place an efficient and cost effective water
utility billing system, and
WHEREAS, the City needs to reduce the costs of managing the customer utility accounts.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. TMC 14.04.240 (d) and Section I 24(b) of Ordinance #1190 are hereby repealed.
Section 2. TMC 14.04.260, Rates outside city limits, and Ordinance #1407, Section II (part)
are hereby amended to read as follows: The rates for water supplied to consumers not within the
city limits shall be as follows:
The same rate schedule as provided in Sections 14.04.240 and 14.04.250 shall apply. The
above rates to consumers outside the city limits are subject to the same rates to consumers inside the
city limits; provided that nothing in this section shall prevent the City Council from fining other and
different rates for the sale of water to water districts; provided that all meters for measuring water to
outside consumers are installed within the city limits or within the limits of easements, franchises, or
rights -of -way belonging to the City.
Section 3. TMC 14.04.270, Payment of charges Delinquency, and Ordinance #264, Section 26
are hereby amended to read as follows: All water charges shall be due and payable on the first day
of each and every month for the water consumed during the previous month and shall be paid to the
City Finance Director or to the person delegated by him to receive such monies. In all cases when
the water bill becomes delinquent the supervisor may shut off the water and shall not turn it on again
until all arrearages have been paid. All bills will become delinquent on the tenth day of the month
following the month that the water was consumed.
Section 4. Effective Date: This ordinance or a summary thereof consisting of the title shall be
published in the official newspaper of the City, and shall take effect and be in full force 5 days after
passage and publication.

ORDINANCES 264, AND 1407.
On March 2. 1992. the City Council of the City of Tukwila passed Ordinance No.
1620, relating to water rates and discontinuing the twenty -five cent discount; setting rates
outside the City Limits; amending the TMC relative to payment of charges delinquency;
and establishing an effective date.
The full text of this ordinance will be mailed without charge to anyone who submits a
written request to the City Clerk of the City of Tukwila for a copy of the text.
