ORDINANCE NO. S 8 7
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY FOR RIVER BANK EROSION REPAIRS
AND AUTHORIZING EMERGENCY EXPENDITURES.
WHEREAS, a substantial amount of erosion has occurred on the
Duwamish River on the west side of 42nd Avenue in Allentown, and
WHEREAS, the erosion around a big cedar tree has threatened
the stability of that tree, and
WHEREAS, another rain storm is likely to further undercut and
may topple the tree, and
WHEREAS, if the tree falls, an 18 inch water transmission line
may be broken and water service for a large area may be disrupted,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City wishes to prevent disruption of water
service and to preserve the street and buildings next to the eroded
river bank in the Allentown area.
Section 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to expend an
estimated $15,000 from the Surface Water Management Fund to
construct erosion controls.
