OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, REDUCING THE SPEED
LIMIT ON THE WEST VALLEY HIGHWAY BETWEEN SO.
158TH STREET AND SO. 180TH FROM 50 MPH TO 40 MPH
AND AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1370.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, REDUCING THE SPEED
LIMIT ON THE WEST VALLEY HIGHWAY BETWEEN SO.
158TH STREET AND SO. 180TH FROM 50 MPH TO 40 MPH
AND AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1370.
WHEREAS, RCW 46.61.415 authorizes the City to establish speed limits determined
by engineering and traffic investigations, and
WHEREAS, the Highway Commission may approve local authority adopted speed
limits on State Highways, and
WHEREAS, an engineering evaluation of the West Valley Highway between So.
158th and So. 180th Street has been made, and a request to the Washington State
Department of Transportation District #1 to reduce the speed limit has been approved.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWH A,
WASHINGTON, DO HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Forty m.n.h. on portion of West Vallev Highway. Section 9.16.010 is
hereby amended to read as follows:
9.16.010 Forty m.p.h. on portion of West Valley. A forty mile per hour speed limit
zone is established on the West Valley Highway in the general vicinity of the Renton
Tukwila City limits and then in a generally northerly direction for approximately eight- tenths
of a mile and then in a generally southerly direction to the intersection of West Valley
Highway and So. 180th Street.
Section 2. Ordinance No. 1370 is hereby amended.
Section 3. This ordinance or a summary thereof shall be published in the official
newspaper of the City, and shall take effect and be in full force five (5) days after passage
and publication as provided by law.

On /O -I -9O the City Council of the City of Tukwila passed Ordinance No. !Se
reducing the speed limit on the West Valley Highway from 50 mph to 40 mph between So.
158th St. and So. 180th; amending Ord. #1370; and establishing an effective date.
The full text of this ordinance will be mailed without charge to anyone who submits a
written request to the City Clerk of the City of Tukwila for a copy of the text.
