ORDINANCE NO. XJ -5
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING TMC 14.04.240 SECTIONS (a), (b), (c) AND TMC
14.04330 SECTIONS (d) (1) AND (2) RELATING TO METERED
WATER RATES.
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to have in place an equitable and adequate rate
structure to finance the operation and maintenance of the water utility, and
WHEREAS, the City needs additional revenues to pay for the Water Reservoir
Project.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWII.A,
WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. TMC 14.04.240 (a), (b), and (c) adopted the 17th day of April, 1989 is
hereby amended to read as follows:
(TMC 14.04.240) Rates for Metered Water
(a) The rates for metered water supplied within the City, in one month or fractional
part thereof, shall be in accordance with the following schedule:
Commercial/Industrial Customers
SIZE OF SERVICE BASE CHARGE
3/4 inch $8.50
1 inch 13.50
1 -1/2 inch 19.00
2 inch 24.50
3 inch 47.00
4 inch 63.00
6 inch 115.00
8 inch 176.00
In addition, for each 100 cubic feet of water used, the rate shall be one dollar and
forty -three cents ($1.43) per 100 cubic feet for the monthly billing dates of June through
September, and for the period October through May the rate shall be one dollar and thirty
one cents ($1.31) per 100 cubic feet.
(b) Single family customers (one dwelling unit): The base water charge will be $4.00
for each account. In addition, for each 100 cubic feet of water used, the rate shall be one
dollar and ten cents ($1.10) per 100 cubic feet for the monthly billing dates of June through
September, and for the period October through May the rate shall be one dollar ($1.00) per
100 cubic feet.
(c) Multi family customers (more than one dwelling unit): The minimum charge will
be $4.00 for each dwelling unit. In addition, for each 100 cubic feet of water used, the rate
shall be one dollar and ten cents ($1.10) per 100 cubic feet for the monthly billing dates of
June through September, and for the period October through May the rate shall be one
dollar ($1.00) per 100 cubic feet.
Section 2. TMC 14.04.330, Sections (d) (1) and (2), adopted the 17th day of April,
1989, is hereby amended to read as follows:
(TMC 14.04 3301 Temporary Water Meters
(d) Rates for water used through temporary meters are as follows:
(1) Three fourths inch and one inch, twenty -five dollars ($25.00) plus water usage at
the rate of one dollar and forty -three cents ($1.43) per one hundred cubic feet.
(2) Two -and- one -half inch, fifty dollars ($50.00) plus water usage at the rate of one
dollar and forty-three cents ($1.43) per one hundred cubic feet.
Section 3. Effective Date: This ordinance or a summary thereof shall be published in
the official newspaper of the City, and shall take effect and be in full force May 14, 1990.

WASHINGTON, AMENDING TMC 14.04.240 SECTIONS
(a), (b), (c) AND TMC 14.04.330 SECTIONS (d) (1) AND (2)
RELATING TO METERED WATER RATES.
On April 16. 1990 the City Council of the City of Tukwila passed Ordinance
No. 1560 establishing rates for Metered Water and Temporary Water Meters, amending
Section 14 of the TMC, and establishing and effective date.
The full text of this ordinance will be mailed without charge to anyone who submits a
written request to the City Clerk of the City of Tukwila for a copy of the text.
