HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 1514 - Metered Water Rates (Repealed by Ord 1766) S I A"; �W� '1906 CITY OF TUKWILA WASHINGTON 7 Lf ORDINANCE NO. _15 1 L AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, AMENDING SECTIONS 14.04.240, 14.04.250, AND 14.04.330 OF THE TUKWILA MUNICIPAL CODE; AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1471, SECTION 24(a), SECTIONS 4(d)(A) AND (B) RELATING TO METERED WATER RATES; AND AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1290, SECTION 24(b) RELATING TO FIRE PROTECTION. WHEREAS, the City has received a substantial rate increase for purchased water from the City of Seattle, and WHEREAS, the City desires to have equitable fire protection service rates, and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to have in place an equitable and adequate rate structure to finance the operation and maintenance of the water utility, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: I Ordinance No. 1471, Section 24(a), adopted the 20th day of June, 1988, is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 24 (TMC 14.04.240(a)) Rates for Metered Water (a) The rates for metered water supplied within the City, in one month or fractional part thereof, shall be in accordance with the following schedule: (1) Commercial /Industrial Customers SIZE OF SERVICE BASE CHARGE 3/4 inch $8.50 1.inch 13.50 1 -1 /2 inch 19.00 2 inch 24.50 3 inch 47.00 4 inch 63.00 6 inch 115.00 8 inch 176.00 In addition, for each 100 cubic feet of water used, the rate shall be one dollar and thirty cents ($1.30) per 100 cubic feet for the monthly billing dates of June through September, and for the period October through May the rate shall be one dollar and nineteen cents ($1.19) per 100 cubic feet. (2) Single family customers (one dwelling unit): The base water charge will be $4.00 for each account. In addition, for each 100 cubic feet of water used, the rate shall be one dollar ($1.00) per 100 cubic feet for the monthly billing dates of June through September, and for the period October through May the rate shall be ninety cents ($0.90) per 100 cubic feet. (3) Multi- family customers (more than one dwelling unit): The minimum charge will be $4.00 for each dwelling unit. In addition, for each 100 cubic feet of water used, the rate shall be one dollar ($1.00) per 100 cubic feet for the monthly billing dates of June through September, and for the period October through May the rate shall be ninety cents ($0.90) per 100 cubic feet. II Ordinance No. 1471, Sections 4(d)(A) and (B), adopted the 20th day of June, 1988, is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 4 (TMC 14.04 330(d)) Temporary Water Meters (d) Rates for water used through temporary meters are as follows: (A) Three fourths inch and one inch, twenty -five dollars ($25.00) plus water usage at the rate of one dollar ($1.00) per one hundred cubic feet for single family and multi family accounts for the monthly billing dates of June through September, and for the period October through May the rate shall be ninety cents ($0.90) per 100 cubic feet; and one dollar and thirty cents ($1.30) for commercial /industrial accounts for the monthly billing dates of June through September, and for the period October through May the rate shall be one dollar and nineteen cents ($1.19) per 100 cubic feet. (B) Two and one -half inch, fifty dollars ($50.00) plus water usage at the rate of one dollar ($1.00) per one hundred cubic feet for single family and multi- family accounts for the monthly billing dates of June through September, and for the period October through May the rate shall be ninety cents ($0.90) per 100 cubic feet; and one dollar and thirty cents ($1.30) for commercial /industrial accounts for the monthly billing dates of June through September, and for the period October through May the rate shall be one dollar and nineteen cents ($1.19) per 100 cubic feet. III Ordinance No. 1290, Section 24(b), adopted April 18, 1983, is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 24(b) (TMC 14.04.250(d)) Fire Protection SIZE OF SERVICE BASE CHARGE $2.00 4.50 8.00 18.00 32.00 50.00 72.00 (d) The rates for water supplied for fire protection purposes exclusively shall be deemed service charges and shall be for any one month or fractional part thereof as follows: 2 inch 3 inch 4 inch 6 inch 8 inch 10 inch 12 inch Ordinance Page 2 Water used for any other purpose than for fire protection service shall be deemed as Theft III. IV Severabilitv. If any section, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance should be held to be invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity or unconstitutionality shall not affect the validity or constitutionality of any other section, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance. V Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force on May 13, 1989. On April 17, 1989 the City Council of the City of Tukwila, passed Ordinance No. 1514 which provides as follows: Amends Ordinance No. 1471 to change the rates for metered water and the rates for water used through temporary water meters; Amends Ordinance No. 1290 to change the rates for water supplied for fire protection purposes; and establishes an effective date. The full text of this ordinance will be mailed without charge to anyone who submits a written request to the City Clerk of the City of Tukwila for a copy of the text.
