ORDINANCE NO. /LI 947
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, PROVIDING THAT
SUPERVISION OVER THE MAINTENANCE OF MUNICIPAL PARKS AND GOLF
COURSE(S) BE EXERCISED BY THE PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR.
WHEREAS, TMC 2.12.020(4) provides that the general supervision of
municipal parks be exercised by the Director of Public Works, and
WHEREAS, the Tukwila City Council has determined that supervision of
municipal parks is more appropriately exercised by the Parks and Recreation
Director, and
WHEREAS, the Tukwila City Council has further determined that supervision
of golf courses should be included as a duty of the Parks and Recreation
Director, now, therefore
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 2.12.020 of the Tukwila Municipal Code is hereby
amended to delete paragraph (4), and to read in full as follows:
2.12.020 Duties. Subject to the direction of the mayor, the director of
public works shall perform the following duties:
(1) He shall have charge of construction, maintenance, repair and
cleaning of the streets, sidewalks, gutters, sewers and drains, and such other
related activities.
(2) He shall exercise general supervision over the municipal water and
sewer systems.
Section 2. Section 2.88.010 of the Tukwila Municipal Code is hereby
amended to add paragraph (4), and to read in full as follows:
2.88.010 Office created. The parks and recreation department is created
and shall be under the supervision of the parks and recreation director who
shall report directly to the mayor. The director shall be appointed by the
mayor subject to confirmation by a majority of the members of the city
council. The recreation department shall be reponsible for:
(1) Development and implementation of a comprehensive parks and
recreation program to meet community needs;
(2) Drafting of long range parks acquisitions and development programs;
(3) Serve as an advisory to the park commission and various ad hoc
advisory committees;
(4) Exercising general supervision over the maintenance of the municipal
parks and golf course(s).

Section 3. This ordinance shall be in force and effect five days after
publication of the attached Summary which is hereby approved. o

day of 1988.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON,
PROVIDING THAT SUPERVISION OVER THE MAINTENANCE OF
MUNICIPAL PARKS AND GOLF COURSE(S) BE EXERCISED BY
THE PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR.
1988, the City Council of the City of Tukwila passed
which provides as follows: for the amendment of
.88.010 of the Tukwila Municipal Code, providing that
parks and golf course(s) be exercised by the parks
and providing for an effective date.
APPROVED by the City Council at its meeting of
