AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, ADDING
A NEW SECTION 9.28.05 TO THE TUKWILA MUNICIPAL CODE
PROHIBITING THE NEGLIGENT USE OF SKATEBOARDS,
ROLLERRSKATES; COASTERS, TOY VEHICLES OT SIMILAR DEVICES..

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, ADDING
A NEW SECTION 9.28.035 TO THE TUKWILA MUNICIPAL CODE
PROHIBITING THE NEGLIGENT USE OF SKATEBOARDS,
ROLLERSKATES, COASTERS, TOY VEHICLES OR SIMILAR DEVICES.
WHEREAS, the Tukwila City Council finds that the regulation
of skateboard, roller skate, coaster and toy vehicle use upon
roadways, sidewalks and publicly owned parking lots is necessary
to promote the public health, safety and welfare, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. There is hereby added to the Tukwila Municipal
Code a new Section 9.28.035 to read as follows:
9.28.035 Negligent Operation of Skateboards and
other Devices Prohibited.
It is unlawful for any person to rollerskate or
operate a skateboard, coaster, toy vehicle or
similar device in a negligent manner upon any
roadway, sidewalk or publicly owned parking lot.
For the purpose of this section, "to operate in a
negligent manner" means the rollerskating or
operation of a skateboard, coaster, toy vehicle or
similar device in such a manner as to endanger or
be likely to endanger any persons or property.
Section 2. If any section, sentence, clause or phrase
of this ordinance should be held to be invalid or
unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, such
invalidity or unconstitutionality shall not affect the validity
or constitutionality of any other section, sentence, clause or
phrase of this ordinance.

Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
full force five (5) days after publication of the attached
summary which is is hereby approved.

Section 1. Prohibits the use of rollerskates,
skateboards, coasters, toy vehicles or similar devices in a
negligent manner upon roadways, sidewalks and publicly owned
parking lots.
Section 2. Contains a severability clause.
Section 3. Sets an effective date of five (5) days from
the date of this summary's publication.

charge to anyone who submits a written request to the City Clerk
of the City of Tukwila for a copy of the text.
