HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 1434 - Water Service Connection Standards (Repealed by Ord 1766) W"" it701) 1906 CITY OF TUKWILA WASHINGTON 7.4 ORDINANCE NO. 4 d 0042.200.008 JEH /gg 06/02/87 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, AMENDING SECTION 14.04.060 OF THE TUKWILA MUNICIPAL CODE TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL STANDARDS FOR WATER SERVICE CONNECTIONS AND AMENDING SECTION 14.04.070 WITH RESPECT TO CONNECTION INSTALLATION FEES. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Size of Water Service Connections. Section 14.04.060 (1) of the Tukwila Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: (1) Residential water service connections shall be a minimum of three /fourths inch (3/4 in diameter and shall consist of standard galvanized pipe, copper tubing or PVC and polyethylene (ultra high molecular weight) pipes as approved by the current Seattle /King County Plumbing Code for sizes up to and including three /fourths inch in size. Section 2. Installation by Contractor. A new Section 14.04.060 (11) is hereby added to the Tukwila Municipal Code to read as follows: (11) Water service connections shall be installed in strict conformance with all standards and permit conditions by a contractor duly licensed and bonded in the State of Washington for such installations. Section 3. Connection Installation Fees. Section 14.04.070 of the Tukwila Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: 14.04.070 Connection Installation Fees. (a) The fee for administration, inspection and turn on for a new water service connection installation shall be fifty dollars ($50.00) payable at the time of application for connection. (b) The water meter shall be installed by the City Water Utility. The cost of the meter installation shall be payable at the time of application for connection. The estimated cost shall be paid to the finance director or the person appointed to make collections for the water department, before the work of installing the meter is initiated. Whenever the estimated cost is not sufficient to -1- JEH001090 cover the total expense for labor and materials, the deficit shall be charged to the property for which installation was made and to the owner thereof. Any excess payment shall be returned to the person applying for the installation. Section 4. Severability. If any section, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance should be held to be invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity or unconstitutionality shall not affect the validity or constitutionality of any other section, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance. Section 5. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force five (5) days after publication of the attached summary which is hereby approved. A/W AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, AMENDING SECTION 14.04.060 OF THE TUKWILA MUNICIPAL CODE TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL STANDARDS FOR WATER SERVICE CONNECTIONS AND AMENDING SECTION 14.04.070 WITH RESPECT TO CONNECTION INSTALLATION FEES. On .a. 1987, the City Council of the City of Tukwila passed Ordinance No. /4/24/ which provides as follows: Section 1. Amends Section 14.04.060 (1) to require three /fourths inch water service connections. Section 2. Adds a new Section 14.04.060 (11) requiring water service connections to be installed by a licensed and bonded Washington contractor. Section 3. Amends Section 14.04.070 regarding connection installation fees. Section 4. Provides for severability. Section 5. Establishes an effective date. The full text of this ordinance will be mailed without charge to anyone who submits a written request to the City Clerk of the City of Tukwila for a copy of the text.
