AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1838,
§13, AS CODIFIED AT TMC 16.16.072B, RELATING TO PARKING
IN FIRE LANE VIOLATIONS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY;
AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, contested fire lane parking violations are currently heard by the City's hearing examiner; and
WHEREAS, City Council desires to amend TMC 16.16.072B by amending the appeals procedures for civil
parking lane violations; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to have all parking lane violation appeals heard by the Tukwila
Municipal Court instead of by a Hearing Officer;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Parking in Fire Lanes Prohibited. Ordinance No. 1838 13, as codified at TMC
16.16.072B, is hereby amended to read as follows:
Any violation of any provision, or failure to comply with any of the requirements of this
chapter, shall be subject to the terms and conditions of TMC Chapter 8.45, relating to civil
infraction citations, TMC 8.45.060A.
Section 2. Severability. If any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase of this
ordinance or its application to any person or situation should be held to be invalid or unconstitutional for any
reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity or unconstitutionality shall not affect the validity or
constitutionality of the remaining portions of this ordinance or its application to any other person or situation.
Section 3. Effective Date. This ordinance or a summary thereof shall be published in the official
newspaper of the City, and shall take effect and be in full force and effect five (5) days after passage and
publication as provided by law.

violations; providing for severability; and establishing an effective date.
