Dear Barney:
In reviewing the plans for tenant improvements in the above
mentioned building, please pass -on the following requirements
with your review comments:
1. Extinguisher requirements for each occupancy are:
a) one 2i gallon pressurized water extinguisher
plus one dry - chemical extinguisher rated
10 B -C or;
b) one "All - Purpose" dry chemical extinguisher
rated 2A 10 B -C.
Per OSHA requirements, extinguishers with a gross
weight of 40 pounds or less shall be hung so that
the top of the extinguisher is not higher than 60
inches above the floor. Extinguishers weighing
more than 40 pounds, shall be hung so that the top
of the unit is not higher than 42 inches above the
floor.
Extinguishers shall be located so as to be in plain.
view (if at all possible). If not in plain view,
they shall be identified with a sign stating "FIRE
EXTINGUISHER" with a sign. pointing.
2. All doors, including exits shall be identified
per OSHA, Section 1910.37(q). (Exit signs shall
have letters 6 inches high).
3. Per UFC Sec. 10.104(b), "All doors in or leading
to exits shall be maintained openable from the
inside without the use of a key or any special know-
ledge or effort at all times when the building or
area served thereby is occupied.
