Athletic Club
In reviewing the above mentioned project plans, please note the
following items:
1. All areas are to be protected by the automatic
sprinkler system.
All modifications to sprinkler systems shall have
the written approval of the Washington Survey &
Rating Bureau, then the Tukwila Fire Department.
No work shall commence without the approved
drawings.
Per Section 3305(1) of the UBC, "Where there is
enclosed useable space under stairs the walls and
soffits of the enclosed space shall be protected
on the enclosed side as required for one -hour fire -
resistive construction.... ". Also, sprinkler
protection required under stairs.
All doors, including exits shall be identified per
OSIiA, Section 1910.37(q). Exit signs shall have
letters 6 inches high. Illuminate) exit signs and
exit direction signs are required per Section 10.113
of the Uniform Fire Code.
Per UFC Sec. 10.104(b), "All doors_in or leading to
exits shall be maintained openable from the inside
without the use of a key or any special knowledge:o.r
effort at all times when the building or area served
thereby is occupied ".
Walls to be fire stopped per UBC Sec, 25.17(f):
6. Fire extinguisher type, quantity and placement shall
be per NFPA #10.
Tentative approval was given by this office for
installation of two fire hose stations. However,
with the present proposed configuration of offices,
locker rooms, sauna, mezzanine, etc., it appears
that at least three hose stations will be required
to satisfy the requirements of. Ordinance #730.

We have received the plans for the Southcenter Athletic Club and
have checked the second floor framing for a 100 pound per square
foot live load. We have noted no violations of chapters 23 through
29. of the Uniform Building Code however, we were unable to check
the foundation, the related support structure or floor sheathing.
