AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, RENAMING AND REDEDICATING
CERTAIN PORTIONS OF 57TH SOUTH; REPEALING ORDINANCE
460; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND ESTABLISHING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, what is now called Southcenter Parkway was formerly known as 57th South before it
was renamed in 1966 in Ordinance 460; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance 460 terminated Southcenter Parkway at S. 180th; and
WHEREAS, the City's 1995 Comprehensive Plan set a goal of renaming 57th Avenue South as
Southcenter Parkway "to eliminate designation confusion and enhance community identity for the
areas as a part of Tukwila and
WHEREAS, Puget Sound maps and some businesses on S. 57th Avenue use Southcenter Parkway
as the street name, which indicates that there is some confusion about the current name;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Name Change. That portion of roadway from the state designated "S" line bridge on
the north to the City's boundary on the south shall be renamed and rededicated as Southcenter
Parkway.
Section 2. Repealer. Ordinance 460 is hereby repealed.
Section 3. Severability. If any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase of this
ordinance or its application to any person or situation should be held to be invalid or unconstitutional
for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity or unconstitutionality shall not
affect the validity or constitutionality of the remaining portions of this ordinance or its application to
any other person or situation.
Section 4. Effective Date. This ordinance or a summary thereof shall be published in the official
newspaper of the City, and shall take effect and be in full force and effect five (5) days after passage
and publication as provided by law.

Ordinance No. /67y_ renaming and rededicating certain portions of 57' South;
repealing Ordinance 460; providing for severability; and establishing an effective date.
The full text of this ordinance will be mailed without charge to anyone who
submits a written request to the City Clerk of the City of Tukwila for a copy of the text.
