AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, BANNING THE SALE OF FIREWORKS IN THE CITY; PRO-
VIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Tukwila City Council is concerned with the health, safety and welfare of
its citizens, and
WHEREAS, an advisory ballot in November, 1996 showed Tukwila citizens supported a
ban on the sale and discharge of fireworks in the City by a margin of 2,432 to 2,212;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHING-
TON, HEREBY ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Sale of Fireworks Prohibited. No person, firm or corporation shall manufac-
ture, sell, or store fireworks in the City of Tukwila, except that a person granted a permit for a
public display of fireworks shall be allowed to buy, possess and store fireworks according to the
permit granted.
Section 2. Severability. If any section, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance should
be held to be invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity or
unconstitutionality shall not affect the validity or constitutionality of any other section, sentence,
clause or phrase of this ordinance.
Section 3. Effective Date. This ordinance or a summary thereof shall be published in the
official newspaper of the City, and shall take effect and be in full force one year after passage and
publication as provided by law.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE ITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, at a
Regular Meeting thereof this 9 day of 1996.

No. 78'6 banning the sale, manufacture, and storage of fireworks in the City;
providing for severability; and establishing an effective date.

written request to the City Clerk of the City of Tukwila for a copy of the text.
