A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN AN
AGREEMENT WITH STARFIRE SPORTS, A PRIVATE, NON PROFIT
ORGANIZATION, TO CONSTRUCT AND OPERATE RECREATION
FACILITIES AT FORT DENT PARK.
WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila has assumed ownership of the Fort Dent Regional
Athletic Facility from King County, due to their inability to financially support the
operations and maintenance of that facility, and
WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila does not desire to leave the facility in a closed
status, but does not currently possess the fiscal resources to support this regional
facility, and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Tukwila to re -open the park and make it
available to the public as a first -class recreational facility, and
WHEREAS, Starfire Sports, a private, non profit corporation, has approached the
City and proposed to operate the park as a public recreational facility, and to construct,
at their expense, improvements to the facility to enhance its value as a multi -use facility;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Mayor is authorized to sign an agreement on behalf of the City of
Tukwila with Starfire Sports, establishing a concessionaire agreement for the purposes
of constructing improvements to, and operating activities at, the Fort Dent Park Athletic
Facility
Section 2. The Agreement shall be substantially in the form attached hereto The
Mayor is authorized to approve non substantive changes to the agreement that facilitate
its administration without further authorization. Such changes shall be provided to the
City Council in a timely manner for their information.
