APPLICATION SUBMITTAL In order to ensure that your application is accepted for plan review, please make sure to fill out the
application completely and follow the plan submittal checklist on the reverse side of this form. Handouts are available at
the Building counter which provide more detailed information on application and plan submittal requirements.
Application and plans must be complete in order to be accepted for plan review.
VALUATION OF CONSTRUCTION Valuation for new construction and additions are calculated by the Department of
Community Development prior to application submittal. Contact the Permit Coordinator at 431 -3670 prior to submitting
application. In all cases, a valuation amount should be entered by the applicant. This figure will be reviewed and is
subject to possible revision by the Building Division to comply with current fee schedules.
BUILDING OWNER / AUTHORIZED AGENT If the applicant is other than the owner, registered architect/engineer, orcontr.ctor
licensed by the State of Washington, a notarized letter from the property owner authorizing the agent to submit this
permit application and obtain the permit will be required as part of this submittal.
EXPIRATION OF PLAN REVIEW Applications for which no permit is issued within 180 days following the date of application shall
expire by limitations. The building official may extend the time for action by the applicant for a period not exceeding 180
days upon written request by the applicant as defined in Section 304(d) of the Uniform Building Code (current edition).
No application shall be extended more than once.

On February 13, 1996, you were notified your permit number B95 -0022! would expire on
March 26, 1996. Since February 13, 1996 our records indicate that no inspection or
extension requests were made.
Due to the expiration of your permit, as of January 27, 1997 this permit is now closed
without the benefit of a final inspection. Any further work on the project will require a
new permit application submittal and additional fees. Any new submittal will require
compliance with the current edition of the Uniform Building Code.

Dear Sir:
The attached set of building plans have been reviewed by
The Fire Prevention Bureau and are acceptable with the
following concerns:
1. Maintain fire extinguisher coverage throughout.
2. Exit doors shall be openable from the inside without
the use of a key or any special knowledge or effort. Exit
doors shall not be locked, chained, bolted, barred, latched
or otherwise rendered unusable. All locking devices shall
be of an approved type. (UFC 12.106(c))
Dead bolts are not allowed on auxiliary exit doors
unless the dead bolt is automatically retracted when
the door handle is engaged from inside the tenant
space.
Exit hardware and marking shall meet the requirements
of the Uniform Fire Code. (UFC 12.106 - 12.111)
Manually operated edge or surface mounted flush bolts
and surface bolts are prohibited. (UFC 12.106(c))
3. All new sprinkler systems and all modifications to
existing sprinkler systems shall have fire department
review and approval of drawings prior to installation or
modification. New sprinkler systems and all modifications
to sprinkler systems involving more than 50 heads shall
have the written approval of the W.S.R.B., Factory Mutual,
Industrial Risk Insurers, Kemper or any other
representative designated and /or recognized by The City of.

Dear Sir,
The result of the engineer's calculations for loading accommodating
125' per square foot can be best achieved by placing 4 x 8's @ 32" o.c.
between the existing 2 x 8 floor joist. The option of 2 x 8 @ 8" o.c. fall 80
p.s.i. short of the stress factor fo 1500 p.s.i. for construction grade 2 x 8's.
Hence, we can achieve a load factor greater than the required minimum by
using the 4 x 8's per drawing.
Please notify Unitec after review to give authorization to make said
reinforcements.

Dear Mr. Friesen,
After the initial review of the subject project it has been determined that additional
information and /or corrections must be submitted to complete the plan review. Please
address the following comments.
1. Provide two sets of site plans which show the overall building plan, location of the
subject tenant space, exit doors, existing parking, wheelchair ramps (if applicable),
and the direction of north. These basic requirements are primarily noted on the
on the back side of the permit applications and are designed to assist the
applicant in submitting complete information for plan review.
2. The 2x8 ceiling construction over the new workroom is structurally insufficient for
a 125 pound light storage floor load per U.B.C. table 23 -A and Chapter 23.
Propose a permanent method to prevent storage on this ceiling system or provide
an engineered correction to substantiate the use as a floor. If mezzanine storage
will be proposed, additional plans must also show an appropriate guardrail per
U.B.C. Section 1712.
3. All engineering calculations and conclusions must be clear and reflected on
architectural drawings. Engineering must be signed by a Washington State
Licensed Engineer qualified to practice the designated work, see U.B.C. Section
302(b).
4. Submitted plans do not identify what ceiling materials are proposed for the new
workroom. If an acoustical dropped ceiling is proposed, a reflective ceiling plan
is required with seismic bracing detailed per U.B.C. Section 2336, table 23 -P, and
Standard 47 -18 part III.

5. Plans must reference a method of providing minimum ventilation to the new
workroom required by U.B.C. Section 705(a) and the Washington State Ventilation
/ Air Quality Code. ( Note, separate mechanical permits are required for
mechanical equipment installations ).
6. The proposed insulation "R" values for the new workroom is less than allowed by
prescriptive design in table 13 -1 of the 1994 Washington State Non - residential
Energy Code. Also, the plans do not show that the existing exterior concrete wall
in the new workroom is framed to accommodate insulation. Provide a revised R-
30 insulation for the ceiling and R -19 in the walls per W.S.E.C. Section 1320 or a
Component Performance design per W.S.E.C. Section 1330.
7. Provide a lighting schedule and lighting budget for new ceilings that complies with
Chapter 15 of the Washington State Energy Code, ( for workshops, a maximum
1.5 watts per square foot is allowed by table 15 -1 ).
