Application and plans must be complete in order to be accepted for plan review. VALUATION OF CONSTRUCTION Valuation for new construction and additions are calculated by the Department of Community Development prior to application submittal. Contact the Permit Coordinator at 433 -1851 prior to submitting application. In all czces, a valuation amount should be entered by the applicant. This figure will be reviewed and is subject to possible revision by the Building Division to comply with current fee schedules. BUILDING OWNER / AUTHORIZED AGENT If the applicant is other than the owner, registered architect/engineer, or contractor licensed by the State of Washington, a notarized letter from the property owner authorizing the agent to submit this permit application and obtain the permit will be required as part of this submittal. EXPIRATION OF PLAN REVIEW Applications for which no permit is issued within 180 days following the date of application shall expire by limitations. The building official may extend the time for action by the applicant for a period not exceeding 180 days upon written request by the applicant as defined in Section 304(d) of the Uniform Building Code (current edition). No application shall be extended more than once. '''' s ' :!.:!:::!.W:Vo.!:•:•: • . • . molik - -ATM, tt �pf • „ REQUE$T PROPOSAL P� 1 • TRASH CPMPACTOR CANOPY 1 0 KENWORTH TRUCK COMPANY • SEATTLE PLANT \I1` ��Cn, 1.0 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Kenworth Truck Company is requesting proposals from vendors to provide and install a canopy over a large trash compactor at its Seattle Plant at 8801 East Marginal Way South, Seattle, Washington, 98108. 1.2 This document describes the desired canopy, in general terms, and requests that interested vendors propose, and provide a bid price for, a canopy they feel will meet the company's needs, based on this document. 1.3 This document has been.revised to reflect the as bid condition. The existing text has been lined through, and the new text added. 2.0 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 2.1 The canopy shall be configured generally as depicted on the attached sketches, COM_PLA4 and COMSIDE4. Canopy size shall be roughly -25 = _ - - _ = _ - • inch- ever. 50 feet by 16 feet, with no overhang. 2.2 The canopy clear height shall be 15 feet minimum to the south side. The roof slope shall be approximately 1:12. 2.3 All walls will be completely open with free standing columns. If X bracing is required, it shall be placed on the sldee -south west side. 2.4 Materials of construction shall be steel, adequately protected against corrosion by painting, or galvanized. 2.5 Gutters shall be on the south side of the canopy and shall; slope to a downspout at the southwest corner of the structure. "' 3.0 CODES AND STANDARDS 3.1 As a minimum, the design and construction of the canopy shall be IVED in accordance with the following: CITY OF 'AU G 1 1 1995 1 PERMIT CENTER • � 3.1.1 A.I.S.C. Specifications for Structural Steel. 3.1.2 A.I.S.I Specifications for Light -Gauge Cold- formed Steel 3.1.3 Metal Building Manufacturers Association Design Practices Manual 3.1.4 Uniform Building Code, •1994 Edition 3.2 Design Loads shall be as follows: 3.2.1 Wind Loads - per UBC and prevailing design practices for the area. 3.2.2 Roof Live Loads - Per UBC and prevailing design practices for the area. • } 3.2.3 Combinations of loads per common design practice. 3.2.4 Seismic Zone III. 4.0 REQUIREMENTS f 4.1 Vendors proposal shall include all necessary labor and equipment necessary for a complete installation of the canopy on a foundation provided by others. 4.2 Vendor shall provide complete foundation design, including certified anchor bolt layout, stamped by a Washington State licensed structural engineer. 4.3 Vendor shall provide two complete sets of drawings and structural calculations prior to start of construction. 4.4 All drawings generated during the design phase of the project shall be completed on Autocad 12 and submitted on high density 3 1/2" disks to the facilities engineering department. 4.5 All pricing shall be based on erecting major portions of the canopy on Saturday and Sunday, with completion of the remaining minor installations on first shift, Monday through Friday. This assumes the need for heavy equipment to set the main structural 2 components of the canopy. Weekday, first shift operations of the facility will underway while the contractor is on site at other times. 5.0 POST INSTALLATION TEST AND INSPECTION 5.1 Kenworth facilities engineering and maintenance personnel shall inspect all work performed by the vendor and a punchlist of items needing correction shall be compiled. 5.2 The items on this list shall be corrected to the satisfaction of Kenworth facilities engineering personnel prior to final payment being made to the vendor. 5.3 Facilities engineering shall provide final acceptance and authorize final payment. 6.0 SUBMITTALS 61 As a minimum, the vendors proposal shall include: 6.1.1 A complete description of the canopy they propose, including the price for the canopy installed on a prepared foundation, and a listing of the materials and services to be provided, in addition to any restrictions or exclusions. If the vendor can provide an "off the shelf" design, standard lengths, widths, and heights shall be considered. 6.1.2 An estimate of the time required to complete the project, and a proposed schedule. The vendors schedule should indicate an ability to complete the project by September 22, 1995, assuming completion of the foundation work per the submitted schedule. 7.0 PROJECT SCHEDULE 7.1 Vendors proposal shall be submitted to the Kenworth Seattle facilities engineer by 3:00 PM on July 21, 1995. 8.0 OWNER PROVIDED" . 8.1 Kenworth shall provide the necessary building permit, and a foundation per the certified design provided by the vendor. 3 KENWORTH TRUCK COMPANY 8801 E.
