Application and plans must be complete In order to be accepted for plan review. VALUATION OF CONSTRUCTION Valuation for new construction and additions are calculated by the Department of Community Development prior to application submittal. Contact the Permit Coordinator at 431 -3670 prior to submitting application. In all cases, a valuation amount should be entered by the applicant. This figure will be reviewed and is subject to possible revision by the Building Division to comply with current fee schedules. BUILDING OWNER / AUTHORIZED AGENT If the applicant is other than the owner, registered architect/engineer, or contractor licensed by the State of Washington, a notarized letter from the property owner authorizing the agent to submit this permi! application and obtain the permit will be required as part of this submittal. EXPIRATION OF PLAN REVIEW Applications for which no permit is issued within 180 days following the date of application shall expire by limitations. The building official may extend the time for action by the applicant for a period not exceeding 180 days upon written request by the applicant as defined in Section 304(d) of the Uniform Building Code (cu. rent edition). No application shall be extended more than once. Approval is hereby given for a Utility Vault Company 660-SA separator for installation by the fueling island and a LaserWash 4000 system to by included inside the car wash building. These separators shall include an inspection and sampling tee that are to be placed on the outlet pipe. These sampling tees should have one open end extending well above the surface of the wastewater and the other open end extending six inches below the surface of the wastewater. Discharge of created wastewater from these separators to the sanitary sewer is authorized subject to the following conditions: 1. No significant amount of storm drainage shall enter the sanitary sewer; i,e., the uncovered area tributary to the separators shall not exceed 200 square feet. 2. The oil /water separators sampling port or inspection tee on the outlet line shall be accessible to King County Industrial Waste personnel during normal hours of facility operation. 3. The oil /water separators shall be properly maintained so that effluent from these structures does not exceed the King County discharge limitation of 100 milligrams per liter (mg /1) of mineral/petroleum (nonpolar) fats, olls, and grease (POG). This design approval does not in any way guarantee that the oil /water separators will function as described by the fabricator or manufacturer. Further, the approval does not relieve Tukwila Chevron or any subsequent operator of the responsibility to enlarge, modify or replace the oil /water separators to meet King County discharge requirements. This design approval shall not be interpreted as excusing the user from compliance with any applicable federal, state or local statutes, ordinances or regulations. FIRE DEPARTMENT -- Construction Information 1. The City of Tukwila has adopted the 1991 Uniform Fire Code. This and other nationally recognized standards will be used during construction and operation of this project. (TMC 16.16.120) 2. Fire hydrants 48.41-1- be required. (City Ord. 243. Required fire hydrants shall be approved for location by the Fire Department, approved for purity by the Water Department, and fully in service prior to start of construction. By line of vehicular travel a fire hydrant must be no further than 150 feet from a structure; and no portion of a structure to be over 300 feet from fire hydrant. (UFC 10.301 and City Ord. #1646) n 4. Automatic fire sprinklers, audible and visual devices, and a minimum of one pull station per floor are reuired for this project. Sprinkler system and fire alarm shall comply with N.F.P.A. #13, #72, and ADA requirements. Sprinkler plans shall be submitted to Washington State. Surveying and Rating Bureau, Factory Mutual or Industrial Risk Insurers for approval prior to being submitted to Tukwila Fire Marshal for approval. The fire alarm plans are to be submitted directly to the Tukwila Fire Marshal for approval. Submit three (3) sets of drawings. This includes one for our file, one for company file, and one for the job site. (City Ord. #1626) n 5. Maximum grade is 15% for all projects. 6. Hose stations are required. (City Ord. #1646) X7. A fire alarm system is required for this project. (City Ord. #1626) Plans shall be submitted to the Tukwila Fire Marshal for approval, prior to commencing any alarm system work. Submit three (3) sets of complete drawings. This includes one for our file, one for company file, and one for the job site. EL 8. Special installations of fixed extinguisher systems, fire alarm systems, dust collectors, fuel storage, etc. require separate pla,ls and permits. Cashier Platform: The cashier's area or store information area should be on a raised platform in order for the employees to have a better view of the entire business. This would help provide an atmosphere that the employee has control of the area thus reducing the opportunity for crimes to occur. 2. Restrooms: Recommend that the restrooms that are open to the general public not have false ceilings. There have been problems with subjects hiding in the ceiling area and then dropping down later to do robberies. Also ceiling areas have been used to hide merchandise wrappings. 3. Security Alarm: Recommend installing a security alarm system during construction that would report a robbery in progress as well as a burglary in progress when the business is closed. 4. Security Camera System: Recommend that a good quality surveillance video camera system be installed during construction. The cameras should have sufficient quality•to be able to identify a subject from the video recorded tape. It is a deterrent to potential thieves and great for prosecution to have the actual crime on tape. 5. Windows: Consideration should be given to providing hardened coverings (such as security film, etc.) for ground level windows where glass breakage would allow for access to • building interiors by burglars. 6. Orientation of Windows: Windows should be located so that the parking lot area can be easily surveyed by employees inside the business. Also the windows should be located so that a patrol car passing by can easily survey inside the business. 7. Doors: Doors should have quality locking mechanisms with minimum one inch deadbolt locks. All exit doors shall be operable from the interior without the use of a key or any special knowledge or effort. The Crime Prevention Unit should be contacted for information regarding correct hardware usage at 242 -8084. 8. Graffiti Prevention Program: It is important to win the war against the graffiti "artist" and keep your building attractive for customers. New non -stick anti - graffiti water - based or wax like coatings are now available to make an effective barrier against graffiti or other potentially staining substances.
