CALL TO ORDER/PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
Mayor Steve Mullet called the meeting to order at 5:10 p.m. and led the Pledge of
Allegiance.

Hernandez, J. Duffle, R. Simpson
PLANNING COMMISSIONERS ATTENDANCE:
Planning Commissioners attending: B. Arthur, M. Bratcher, V. Meryhew, A. Ekberg
SPECIAL ISSUE:
Jack Pace, Deputy Director of DCD, gave a short history and background on the Tukwila
urban center (TUC) plan and introduced consultants Michael Freedman, of Freedman
Tung Bottomley (FTB) and Terry Moore of ECO Northwest.
Terry Moore gave a brief overview of the two objectives for the TUC project.
Michael Freedman reviewed the TUC planning process and briefly presented the
outcomes of the five public workshops held in May, June and July of this year. Mr.
Freedman followed up by describing two possible redevelopment scenarios that were
derived from the outcomes of the public workshops.
Terry Moore presented a preliminary feasibility evaluation supporting the redevelopment
alternatives were grounded in economics and would put the TUC in a more competitive
field amidst the new development occurring in neighboring communities.
Council members and commissioners had questions regarding traffic /access, location of
residential development, public investments and private development, and mechanisms
for regulating development, possible transportation alternatives within the TUC. The next
public workshop on the TUC plan is tentatively scheduled for mid February. The next
joint City Council/Planning Commission worksession is tentatively scheduled sometime
in April.
Mayor Mullett adjourned the meeting at 7:15 p.m.
