Subsoil Drainage There is a catch basin in the curb at East Marginal Way that is directly below the residence addition. I propose we use 6" perforated PVC pipe around the footing in a gravel bed and then tightline it with a 6" PVC pipe to the catch basin in the street. The downspouts /roof drains will be collected in a 6" PVC solid pipe and carried to the same street catch basin. If this is acceptable I will adjust the site plan and resubmit it to you. 2. Ceiling Height The entire purpose of this addition is to allow Tracy Tweet access to all three floors of her home. Mrs. Tweet is confined to a wheelchair. The 12' addition provides her with this access via an elevator. The existing residence basement has a ceiling height of 6' -6" as shown on Sheet A6. It is critical that the new addition's floors be level and at the same height as the existing floor. It is obvious due to the existing basement height conditions that it is not possible to provide wheelchair access to the basement if you require a 7' -6" floor -to- ceiling. The floor height would be one foot lower than the existing floor, defeating the purpose of the elevator, which is to allow wheelchair access to all levels.
