ORDINANCE NO. 918 /U
ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING THE DUTIES OF THE
TUKWILA PARK COMMISSION AND AMENDING SECTION
2.32.040 OF THE TUKWILA MUNICIPAL CODE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA DO ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
That Section 2.32.040 of the Tukwila Municipal Code be
amended to read as follows:
2.32.040. Duties. The Park Commission shall serve in
an advisory capacity and as such shall report to the City Council
any recommendations it may have regarding the management, super-
vision, control and expansion of parks, recreational facilities
and programs in the City. More specifically, the duties of the
Park Commission shall be:
a. To approve any form of recreational or cultural
activity sponsored by the City of Tukwila that
will employ the leisure time of the people in a
constructive or wholesome manner.
b. To approve and control all requests for the use
of city owned or leased parks by agencies other
than the City of Tukwila.
c. To plan, promote and set policy and standards for
the construction, development, maintenance and
operations, either within or without the City
limits, parks, playfields and recreation grounds
belonging to or leased by the City of Tukwila.
This includes community buildings as designated
by the Tukwila City Council and improvements of
such buildings.
d. To control ornamentation of all parks and desig-
nated community buildings and to control seasonal
and other temporary decoration or ornamentation
of street lights and standards.
e. To approve or reject any contract in writing with
the United States, the State of Washington, any
county, city or town, park district, school dist-
rict or any other public organization for the pur-
pose of conducting a recreational program or exer-
cising any other power granted by tlis ordinance.
f. To approve or reject any statuary, monument,
decorations or works of art presented to the City.

g. To recommend to the City Council for adoption by
ordinance rules and regulations for the use,
government and management of any municipally
owned or controlled park or recreational facility.
Publication of rules or changes in rules shall be
in such manner as the City Council shall direct.
Rules and regulations so adopted shall be en-
forced by the Police Department of the City of
Tukwila.
h. The Park Commission shall meet not less than once
each month with the Director of Public Works and
the Recreation Supervisor, or their authorized
representatives, and shall have authority to
approve or reject recreational and educational
programs planned or implemented by the Park
Department.
i, The Park Commission shall assist the Director of
Public Works and the Recreation Supervisor in
submitting an annual budget and shall approve
the annual budget before it is submitted to the
City Council.

The Park Commission shall annually, before
April 1st of each year, submit to the City Council
a comprehensive Parks and Recreation Program. The
City Council shall approve, modify or reject such
Plan within thirty days after it has been submitted.
