Item #2: The attached calculations demonstrate that the column -to- concrete pedestal connection at Detail 1.1.1 Z '
1 /page 8 in the submitted drawing set is adequate to resist the applied design loads.
O F., Item #3: The attached calculations demonstrate that the lower, double beam 2- 1/2 "x9" wood roof beam -to
wood column connection at Elevation 7 /page 9 is adequate to resist the applied design loads.
Item #4: Four of the ten existing footings are not adequate to carry the applied design loads as shown. A -
new detail, A, has been attached, providing for new footings to carry gravity, overturning and uplift forces at
these four locations.
•
Item #5: The curved, laminated beams were checked in the original, structural calculations for radial stresses
at two locations (at bearing of the shallow end of the 12' span beam and at mid -span of the 12' span beam).
To meet these radial stresses the beams must have laminations no thicker than li" at the exterior bearing
(where the beam depth was approximated to be 4 -5/8" by interpolation) and no- thicker than 1 -1/4" at mid-
span (with approximate beam depth of 6- 3/4 "). Beams constructed of tapered laminations must be
manufactured out of no less than ten (10) laminations to meet the design radial stresses.
