HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 1607 - IAC for Outdoor Recreation Grant Applicaiton - Duwamish Gardens Acquisition Funding v.11LA, y i fir cA''••... r s� 1908 C ity it a f T kw o u Washington Resolution No. 1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR FUNDING ASSISTANCE TO THE INTERAGENCY COMMITTEE FOR OUTDOOR RECREATION (IAC) FOR AN AQUATIC LANDS ENHANCEMENT ACCOUNT (ALEA) PROGRAM PROJECT, KNOWN AS THE "DUWAMISH GARDENS ACQUISITION PROJECT," AS PROVIDED IN RCW 79.105.150 AND SUBSEQUENT LEGISLATIVE ACTION. WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila has approved a Comprehensive Plan that includes the Duwamish Gardens Project area; and WHEREAS, under the provisions of ALEA, state funding assistance is requested to aid in financing the cost of land acquisition and /or facility development; and WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila considers it in the best public interest to go forward with the Duwamish Gardens Acquisition Project; NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: 1. The Public Works Director shall be authorized to make formal application to IAC for funding assistance. 2. Any funding assistance received shall be used for implementation of the Duwamish Gardens Acquisition Project, as shown on Exhibit A. 3. The City of Tukwila hereby certifies that its share of project funding is committed and will be derived from the City's Parks and Recreation 301 Fund. 4. The City of Tukwila acknowledges that it is responsible for supporting all non -cash commitments to the sponsor share if the grant is not approved. 5. The City of Tukwila acknowledges that any property acquired or facility developed with IAC financial aid must be placed in use as an outdoor recreation facility and be retained in such use in perpetuity, unless otherwise provided, and agreed to by our organization and IAC (generally, IAC approves removing facilities from the perpetuity requirement when the facilities have reached their designed life expectancy, or because of extraordinary vandalism, acts of nature, fire, etc.). 6. This resolution shall become part of a formal application to IAC. 7. The City of Tukwila shall provide appropriate opportunity for public comment on this application.
