The following commissioners attended the regularly scheduled meeting of the Tukwila Civil
Service Commission: Ron Johnston, Carol Zuvela and Dennis Sivak. Others in attendance
were Police Chief Mike Villa, Acting Fire Chief Chris Flores, and Kim Gilman, Civil Service
Examiner.

Distribution of Rules
Chair Johnston called the meeting to order.
The Chair asked if there were any corrections needed for
the May 13, 2013 Commission Meeting minutes. No
corrections were noted.
MOVED BY SIVAK, SECONDED BY ZUVELA
THAT THE MAY 13, 2013 COMMISSION MEETING
MINUTES BE APPROVED AS WRITTEN. MOTION
CARRIED.
The Chair noted that copies of the City of Renton's Civil
Service Rules and a sample set of Civil Service Rules by
Attorney Stephen DiJulio were mailed to Commissioners
prior to the meeting. He encouraged Commissioners to use
these documents as a resource as they begin the work of
revising Tukwila's Civil Service Rules. The Chair
reminded the group that it is the Commission's goal to
complete the revision by the end of the 3`d quarter
(September 30`h). Prior to the next meeting,
Commissioners were asked to identify language within the
current rules that may need to be revised. The Chair
specified that Rule VII, Section 2- Applications may need
revision in order to reflect current terminology and
practice. Commissioners discussed specific revisions, and
agreed that the Civil Service Examiner will compile a list
of all proposed revisions so that they can be voted on all at
once at a future meeting.
