EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL NOTES
1. THE EROSION PREVENTION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL (ESC) MEASURES ON THE APPROVED PLANS
ARE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS.
2. BEFORE BEGINNING ANY CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES, ESTABLISH THE CLEARING UNITS AND INSTALL
CONSTRUCTION ENTRANCE.
3. BEFORE ANY GROUND DISTURBANCE OCCURS, ALL DOWNSTREAM EROSION PREVENTION AND
SEDIMENT CONTROL MEASURES (ESC) MUST BE CONSTRUCTED MID IN OPERATION. INSTALL AND
MAINTAIN ALL ESC MEASURES C
JVO TO THE ESC PLAN.
4. ESC MEASURES. INCLUDING ALL PERIMETER CONTROLS, SHALL REMAIN IN PLACE UNTIL FINAL SITE
COMPLETED AND PERMANENT STABILJZATION IS ESTABLISHED.
5. FROM MAY 1 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30, PROVIDE TEMPORARY AND PERMANENT COVER
MEASURES TO PROTECT DISTURBED AREAS THAT WILL REMAIN UNWORKED FOR SEVEN DAYS OR MORE.
6. FROM OCTOBER 1 THROUGH APR& 30. PROVIDE TEMPORARY AND PERMANENT COVER MEASURES
TO PROTECT DISTURBED AREAS TWIT WILL REMAIN UNWORKED FOR TWO DAYS OR MORE. IN ADDMON
TO COVER MEASURES, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
- PROTECT STOCKPILES AND STEEP CUT AND FILL SLOPES IF UNWORKED FOR MORE THAN 12 HOURS.
- STOCKPILE, ON SITE, ENOUGH COVER MATERIALS 70 COVER ALL DISTURBED AREAS.
7. BY OCTOBER 8, SEED ALL AREAS THAT WILL REMAIN UNWORKED DURING THE WET SEASON
(OCTOBER 1 THROUGH APRIL 30). MULCH ALL SEEDED AREAS.
DRY SEASON SHALL BE IMMEDIATELY STABILIZED WITH THE APPROVED ESC METHODS
(E.G., SEEDING, MULCHING, PLASTIC COVERING, ETC.).
8. APPROVAL OF THIS EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL (ESC) PLAN
DOES NOT CONSTITUTE AN APPROVAL OF PERMANENT ROAD OR DRAINAGE DESIGN (E.G.,
SIZE AND LOCATION OF ROADS, PIPES. RESTRICTORS, CHANNELS, RETENTION FACILITIES,
UBUTEES. EEC.).
9. THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THESE ESC PLANS AND DIE CONSTRUCTION, MAINTENANCE,
REPLACEMENT. AND UPGRADING OF THESE ESC FACILITES IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF
THE APPLICANT /ESC SUPERVISOR UNTIL ALL CONSTRUCTION IS APPROVED.
10. THE BOUNDARIES OF THE CLEARING LIMITS SHOWN ON THIS PUN SHALL BE CLEARLY
FLAGGED BY A CONTINUOUS LENGTH OF SURVEY TAPE (OR FENCING, IF REQUIRED) PRIOR
TO CONSTRUCTION. DURING THE CONSTRUCTION PMD NO DISTURBANCE BEYOND
THE CLEARING LIMITS SHALL BE PERMITTED. THE CLEARING LIMITS SHALL BE
MAINTAINED BY THE APPLICANT /ESC SUPERVISOR FOR THE DURATION OF
CONSTRUCTION.
ION.
11. THE ESC FACILITIES SHOWN ON THIS PLAN MUST BE CONSTRUCTED PRIOR 70 OR IN
CONJUNCTION WITH ALL CLEARING AND GRADING SO AS TO ENSURE THAT THE
TRANSPORT OF SEDIMENT TO SURFACE WATERS. DRAINAGE SYSTEMS. AND ADJACENT
PROPERTIES IS MINIMIZED.
12. THE ESC FACILITIES SHOWN ON THIS PLAN ME THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR
ANTICIPATED SITE COMMONS. DURING THE CONSTRUCTION PERIOD. THESE ESC
FACILITIES SHALL BE UPGRADED AS NEEDED FOR UN CTED STORM EVENTS AND
MODIFIED TO ACCOUNT FOR CHANGING SRE CONDITIONS E.G.. ADDITIONAL SUMP
PUMPS. RELOCATION OF DITCHES AND SILT FENCES. ETC..
13. THE ESC FACIUTIES SHALL BE INSPECTED ONLY BY THE APPLICANT SUPERVISOR
AND MAINTAINED TO ENSURE CONTINUED PROPER FUNCTIONING. RECORDS
SHALL BE KEPT OF Y REVIEWS OF THE ESC FACILMES DURING E WET SEASON
(OCT. 1 TO MARCH 3 THE
AND OF MONTHLY REVIEWS DURING THE . DRY SEASON (MAY i
TO SEPTEMBER 30).
14. AT NO TIME SHALL MORE THAN ONE (1) FOOT OF SEDIMENT BE ALLOWED TO
ACCUMULATE WHIN A CATCH BASIN. ALL CATCH BASINS AND CONVEYANCE LINES
SHALL BE CLEANED PRIOR TO PAVING. THE CLEANING OPERATION SHALL NOT FLUSH
SEDIMENT -LADEN WATER INTO THE DOWNSTREAM SYSTEM.
15. STABILIZED CONSTRUCTION ENTRANCES AND ROADS SHALL BE INSTALLED AT THE
BEGINNING OF CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTAINED FOR THE DURATION OF THE PROJECT.
ADDIINONAL MEASURES, SUCH AS WASH PADS, WAY BE REQUIRED TO ENSURE THAT ALL
PAVED AREAS ME KEPT CLEAN FOR THE DURATION OF THE PROJECT.
16. ANY PERMANENT FLOW CONTROL FACILUIY USED AS A TEMPORARY SETRRIG
BASIN SHALL BE MODIFIED WITH THE NECESSARY EROSION CONTROL MEASURES AND
SHALL PROVIDE ADEQUATE STORAGE CAPACITY. IF THE FACILRY IS TO
FUNCTION ULTIMATELY AS AN INFILTRATION SYSTEM, THE TEMPORARY FACILITY MUST
BE GRADED SO THAT THE BOTTOM AND SIDES ARE AT LEAST THREE FEET ABOVE THE
FINAL GRADE OF THE PERMANENT FACILITY.
17. WHERE STRAW MULCH FOR TEMPORARY EROSION CONTROL IS REQUIRED, R SHALL BE
APPLIED AT A MINIMUM THICKNESS OF 2 TO 3 INCHES.
18. PRIOR TO THE BEGINNING OF THE WET SEASON (OCT. 1), ALL DISTURBED AREAS SHALL BE REVIEWED
TO IDENTIFY WHEN ONES CAN BE SEEDED IN PREPARATION FOR THE WINTER RAINS. DISTURBED AREAS
SHALT BE SEEDED *SHIN ONE WEEK OF THE BEGINNING OF THE WET SEASON. A SKETCH MAP OF THOSE
AREAS TO BE SEEDED AND THOSE AREAS TO REMAIN UNCOVERED SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO THE ODES
INSPECTOR. THE DIES INSPECTOR CAN REQUIRE SEEING OF ADDITIONAL AREAS IN ORDER TO PROTECT
SURFACE WATERS, ADJACENT PROPERTIES, OR DRAINAGE FACILRNES.
