SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
CALL TO ORDER/PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Mayor Steven M. Mullet called the Special Tukwila City Council meeting to order at 8:24 p.m. directly
following the Committee of the Whole meeting.
ROLL CALL
Christy O'Flaherty, Deputy City Clerk, called the roll of the Council. Present were Verna Griffin, Council
President; Councilmembers Joan Hernandez, Pam Carter, Jim Haggerton, Pam Linder, and Dennis
Robertson.
MOVED BY GRIFFIN, SECONDED BY HERNANDEZ TO EXCUSE COUNCILMEMBER DUFFIE FROM
THE MEETING. MOTION CARRIED 6 -0.

Fire Chief; Jack Pace, Acting Community Development Director; Sandra Whiting, Urban Environmentalist;

CONSENT AGENDA
Approval of Vouchers: #330991 331111 in the amount of $374,646.75
MOVED BY HERNANDEZ, SECONDED BY GRIFFIN THAT THE CONSENT AGENDA BE APPROVED
AS SUBMITTED. MOTION CARRIED 6 -0.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
a. A resolution authorizing the donation of surplus fire equipment to the Salmon River Rural Fire
Department in Idaho.
A resolution of the City Council of the City of Tukwila, Washington, declaring a fire truck, fire hose and
nozzles to be surplus and authorizing their donation.
MOVED BY HAGGERTON, SECONDED BY HERNANDEZ, THAT THE PROPOSED RESOLUTION BE
READ BY TITLE ONLY. MOTION CARRIED 6 -0.
Rhonda Berry, City Administrator, read the proposed resolution by title only.
MOVED BY HAGGERTON, SECONDED BY HERNANDEZ THAT THE PROPOSED RESOLUTION BE
ADOPTED AS READ. MOTION CARRIED 6 -0 TO ADOPT RESOLUTION NUMBER 1634.
b. Authorize the Mayor to sign a consultant contract with Tetra Tech, Inc., in the amount of
$73,186.00 for feasibility and design services for improving water quality in Tukwila Pond.
MOVED BY LINDER, SECONDED BY CARTER TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO SIGN A
CONSULTANT CONTRACT WITH TETRA TECH, INC., IN THE AMOUNT OF $73,186.00 FOR
FEASIBILITY AND DESIGN SERVICES FOR IMPROVING WATER QUALITY IN TUKWILA POND.
MOTION CARRIED 6 -0.

c. Authorize the Mayor to sign an agreement in the amount of $100,000.00 for land acquisition
services from King County for 2.18 acres of land referred to as Duwamish Gardens.
MOVED BY HERNANDEZ, SECONDED BY CARTER TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO SIGN AN
AGREEMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $100,000.00 FOR LAND ACQUISITION SERVICES FROM KING
COUNTY FOR 2.18 ACRES OF LAND REFERRED TO AS DUWAMISH GARDENS. MOTION
CARRIED 6 -0.
