HomeMy WebLinkAbout1961-01-16 Adjourned MinutesJanuary 16, 1961 219 The recessed meeting of the Tukwila Town Council was called to order by the Mayor, Charles O. Baker, at 8:00 P.M. Councilmen present were Stan Minkler, A. G. Radford, E. W. Ives. Mayor Baker asked for a report on the bid award for the used dump truck. Mr. Zepp recommended Council accept the bid of Mr. 5 egale of $2500.00. Mr. Ives moved Mr. Segalefs bid be accepted seconded by Mr. Radford and carried. This being the date set for the hearing on a request for a rezone by Mr. Garen, Mr. baker asked if any written or oral objections had been received. There being none he stated that Mr. McKay, District Engineer of the State Highway Department, requests that if any portion_ of this area is to be taken by the Freeway routes it be depeted from that rezoned. Mr. Minkler moved that the area for which a rezone is requested, known as 16205 54th Ave. So., be rezoned to R -4, as defihed in Ord. No. 251, seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. Mr. Ives moved Ord. No. 316, rezoning to R -4 the property noted above, be placed on its first reading. Mr. Ives moved Ord. No. 316 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Mr. Radford and carried. Mr. Radford moved Ord. No. 316 be placed on its 3rd reading and final iassage, sceonded by Mr. lees and carried. Mr. Radford moved Ord. No. 315 applying a zoning of R -M -H to an area annexed by Ord. No. 306 and amended by Ord. No. 312, be placed on its first reading, seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. Mr. Ives moved Ord. It No. 315 be pl &ced on its second reading, seconded by Mr. Radford and carried. Mr. Radford moved Ord. No. 315 be placed on its third reading and final passage, seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. Mr. Phillips was present and stated he would accept the appointment as Police Judge. Mayor Baker administerd the oath of office to Mr. Phillips. Mr. Minkler moved a letter of thanks be sent to Mr. H. M. Graves who had served a couple of years on the Planning Commission, seconded by Mr. Radford and carried. Mayor Baker appointed Mr. Richard Bowen to the Planning Commission his terra to expire January 2, 1966. Mr. Ives moved the Council approve this appointment, seconded by Mr. Radfoed and carried. The following bills were examined by the Finance Committee and by motion apprbved. Current Expense Fund Union OiICo. of California, gas Police dept. $112.29 Valley Industrial Commission, dues and Exhibit expense 175.00 Water Fund Tax 'ommission, Exeise 4th quarter Union Oil Co. of California, gas oil 142.19 30.97 Union Oil Co. of California, gas oil 33.26 An Agreement presented by Puget Sound Power Light Co. regarding new street lights was upon motion of Mr. Radford, seconded by Mr. Ives and approved. Mayor Baker appointed Mr. Minkler, ivir. Ives and Mr. Bowen a committee to investigate the future overall effect on the community of a proposed merger of the Northern Pacific, the Great Northern and the Milwaukee Railroads. Mr. Radford thanked the Town for the Police protection given the Open House at the new Phillips home on Sunday, January 15th. He palcdu special tribute to the officers who so effectively directed traffic and protected pedestrians. Mayor Baker referred to the Planning Commission a request by the Milwaukee Railroad for spurs into the Andover Development property. By motion meeting aujourned at 9 :30.
