PRESENTATIONS No presentations. II. BUSINESS AGENDA A. Parks Update In response to some recent concerns with activities in Tukwila City Parks, Bruce attended the Committee meeting to discuss what staff is doing to mitigate these issues. Responses include collecting and looking at information to determine if picnic shelters are placed in the most appropriate locations and sufficiency of current shelter contracts. Staff will be gathering as much information as possible prior to making decisions on how to proceed. Some of the complaints regarding activities in the parks involve the use of picnic shelters; including drinking, garbage, nuisance noise levels, rude patrons, use of P A systems. Bruce talked briefly about the reservation forms utilized for the picnic shelters and the possibility of revising the paperwork to include repercussions for noise, raising the damage deposit or including nuisance complaints in the damage deposit as well. Bruce has been spending a significant amount of time talking to residents near our parks to determine what the exact issues are and how to best respond to them. Bruce addressed several park concerns. Crestview Park - Bruce has talked with Curt Treadwell, resident, and suggested that area neighbors get together with Bruce to identify the issues and create solutions. Crystal Springs Park - Staff has met with the two neighbors located in the lower portion of the park. Complaints include: drinking and late night activity. Suggested solutions include increased patrols and possibly relocating the play toys. Josevh Foster Memorial Park - Parking issues appear to be the greatest concern in this area. Riverton Park - The pea patch is located at this park. The park seems to be growing in popularity with residents, youth and area businesses. Some Committee member suggestions for improving park operations included: creating more park programs/activities that take place in City parks; posting additional Drug Free Zone signs in the parks; and involving the police including asking school resource officers for assistance and suggestions.
