It is the end user's responsibility to provide adequate flooring. • Check floor plan layout. Measure and mark floor for intended layout, pre -plan exact location of all units with regards to columns, lights, windows and obstructions. • Use correct hardware as specified • The track is system specific. Do not open track boxes until you have identified system number and location. Note: Secure all shelving to carriages with manufacturer supplied hardware. We have found that the following areas require special attention in the installation process. 1. Snapping Chalk Line Double check your reference points to be sure that the first track is properly located, then snap your line. 2. Track Be sure to secure the anti -tip track first. On a one section carriage, the anti -tip track is the rear track; on a two section carriage the anti -tip track is the center track. Before securing the track, make sure the track against the wall has at least a 1 Y2" clearance. Use the carriage to affirm track spacing before securing track to the floor. 3. Upright Assembly Assemble all upright assemblies before you start installing track and stationary units using the upright assembly instructions. 4. Bottom Shelf Bottom shelf does not sit on carriage. Install bottom shelf on wide profile beams. 1 TOOL REQUIREMENTS 1. Band Cutter - to cut straps on bundles of material 2. Chalk Line and Chalk 3. Tape Measure (approximately 25 ft.) 4. Installation of the In -Track Anti -Tip begins with the layout of the floor plan. It is imperative for the proper operation of the system that the tracks be parallel and square. On a two track system, the In -Track Anti -Tip is the rear track. On a three or more track system, the In -Track Anti -Tip track is the track second from the front. 2. The carriage with the anti -tip guide is designed to be inserted into the track after the track is in the approximate location, but prior to completely securing it to the floor. This will eliminate the need to disassemble the guide from the carriage. 3. The carriage is shipped completely assembled. Because of the anti -tip tab the carriages cannot be dropped down with the track in place; they must be slid on from one end. However, if the anti -tip guide assembly cannot be inserted into the track, it is possible to remove and reinstall the mount assembly. Loosen Y4 bolts and remove anti -tip brackets. Place carriage on track. Care must be taken to properly place the mounts tightly to the channel and angle of the carriage during re- assmebly. Re -use fasteners. J if 19 Anti -Tip Tab Assembly Tab held in place with 2-3/4. Bolts Anti -Tip Track .SET UP FOR INSTALLATION OF FIRST TRACK (FOR SEISMIC APPLICATIONS) Track Anti -Tip Track Track Step 1 Assemble one stationary unit at the end of the track run per layout. Use stationary shelving to assist in aligning track and mobile carriage. Place track 1 Y" from the wall. Step 2 Layout all track (use carriage to affirm track spacing by rolling carriage on loose track). The track closest to the wall will be no less than 1 Y2" from the rear edge of track to the wall. On a single section carriage, the In -Track Anti -Tip will be the rear track. On a two section carriage, the In -Track Anti -Tip will be the center track. Review the layout determining where the anti -tip track will lie. Position the track in place. 20 Track placed touching stationary shelving Step 3 Verify you will end up with 1 Y2" clearance from the wall and the stationary shelving to the track run when system complete. Step 4 When wall spacing has been met and the carriage moves freely the length of the track run, proceed to install the anti -tip track. , Step 4 Shim track as required. INSTALLATION OF IN -TRACK ANTI -TIP TRACK WITH STOPS (FOR SEISMIC APPLICATIONS) 1/4 "X 2" NAIL-IN / In -Track Anti -Tip "V" Groove Track Mid - Anchor Pin Hole EXTENSION Note: Track has been pre- assembled and match drilled for ease of assembly. Step 1 Use Y4 Hilti drill bit to drill holes in floor for the anti -tip fastening. Fasteners for the In -Track Anti -Tip are Hilti II's. Step 2 Using the pre - drilled holes in the track as a guide, drill Y4" holes into the concrete floor deep enough for the end fasteners. Step 3 Clean concrete dust from holes. Step 5 Hammer the fasteners through the end of the track into the floor. 21 Step 6 Confirm joints are still properly seated and track is straight. Step 7 Maintaining careful alignment of the In -Track Anti -Tip track, drill and install mid -track (Hilt! Kwik Bolt II) fasteners in every available anchor point in the track. The strength of the anti -tip is in the anchors. Make sure they are tightened properly. Install bumper on TWO ENDS of the In -Track Anti -Tip track. Note: Hole depth for Hilti Kwik Bolt must be consistent to prevent tripping hazard. INSTALLATION OF STANDARD AND POSI -LOCK TRACK WITH STOPS (NON- SEISMIC) Note: Track has been 1 /4"x 2" NAIL -IN pre- assembled and match drilled for ease of assembly. Anchor Pin Hole Standard "V" Groove Track Step 1 Place all the track sections in the designated area as determined by the Layout Drawings. The Posi -Lock Track will be the front (aisle) track. Step 2 Position the Posi -Lock Track with the chain slot forward, (against the aisle). Step 3 The carriage will be used to establish track center lines later in the installation process. Step 4 The chain for the Posi -Lock Track is 4" shorter than the track. It has been pre - ssembled with one fixed end and one adjustable end. Determine what side of the track run you will have access with the Allen wrench. Feed the adjustable end of the chain through the opposite end of the run. With all the Posi -Lock Track sections in place, install the Adjuster tee nut and Allen screw. Just loosely snug the screw. Position the remaining track runs. The rear edge of the track run closest to the wall should be positioned no closer than 1 W to the wall. Place a carriage on the track system to establish center lines of track. Be sure ends of track line up, square. 22 1/4"X 2" NAIL -IN Posi -Lock Track Mid - Anchor Pin Hole Step 5 Anchor the front (Posi -Lock Track). Be sure the track joints are tight, the track is straight and is parallel to the wall. Install end stop and midpoint anchors. Step 6 With the front track completely installed, re- confirm all tracks are parallel (by measuring) and rolling a carriage back and forth. Be sure they start and stop in the same place. Step 7 Use a'/" cement drill for all floor anchors. Be sure holes have been cleared of cement dust before installing anchors. Step 8 Secure all track sections with end stop and mid point anchors. Step 9 Snug the Allen screw until there is slight tension on the chain. CAUTION: DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE CHAIN.
