The Regular Meeting of
the Town Council was held at
Lutz Hall on above date. Meeting
called to order by Mayor Engel at
8:15 PM.
Present: Engel Mayor
Wold
Kline
Gunthert
Miller Councilmembers
The minutes of previous meeting was
read and accepted by the
Council as correct.
Reprot of Committees
Mr. Wold reported that coming to
much other work no work had
been done on the streets during
month.
Bills and Correspondences
The following Bills were presented for
payment:
Walther Thomson $5.00
L.F. Frost and Son $10.00
Caroline Lutz $2.00
C.P. Jensen $5.00
Total $22.00
The Bills were examined and
approved by the Council. Warrants
ordered drawn in their payment.
A circular letter from State Tax
Commissioner was read and
turned over to Ways and Means Committee
for further action.
Mayor Engel hauled in
his resignation to take effect
at once. Mr. Engel stated that
he was tired of the job and it
had always been his custom
when he was tired of a thing
to quit it. The Council much
regretted his move, but knowing
it was no use to wage
him. Mr. Kline moved that
his resignation be accepted.
Mr. Miller seconded the motion.
Mr. Engel extended thanks to
the Official body he had been
working together with for the
good of our town and stepped down from
the chair.
Mr. Miller was duly elected
as Mayor per term. He took
the chair and meeting continued.
Mr. Gunthert moved that
a vote of thanks be given
to Mr. Engel for good work
done. carried unanimously.
Unfinished Business
Mr. Kline reported on the work
of Surveyors. He brought with him work
of ground gone over showing the different
fills and excavations to be
made, which when followed so
would give a 10% grade.
The are open
on file for further references.
The Clerk was interested to correspond
with Interuban in regards to
observing speed ordinance
recently mailed them.
New Business
Mr. Wold wanted some work done
on Maule Avenue and First Avenue.
After considerable discussion
it was moved and seconded
that the Town 1/12 of Lot 15
block 17 for street purpose. The
cash of which would be $225.00.
A motion to appropriate $50.00 for
repair on Maule Avenue was also carried.
The following appropriations for other
public work was also done:
for cutting brush and planning ditch on
land in north end $13.00 Mr. donal to do
the work.
For repair work on Rinnay Avenue
was appropriated $15.00.
A motion to cut away brush
on Reitz Avenue was also carried.
Mr. Gunthert made a motion
to appropriate $500.00 for the
Wilson Hill, the dirt to be used
where most needed. Mr. Wold
insisted that such an amount
was too much to spend in one place.
A lively discussion followed. However, Mr. Kline
finally seconded the motion and the
motion was carried.
Mr. Kline asked for $500.00 for the Engel Hill.
Mr. Gunthert
made a motion to spend
$500.00. Mr. Wold again objected
but was overrided. Mr. Kline
seconded the motion. Carried.
Mr. Wold a motion to buy a
load of lumber for street
repair work. Motion carried.
Considerable talk ensued
about watercourse, the Wyatts
complained that the ditch
would overflow and fill
their backyard. It was decided to
see an attorney about the matter.
Mr. Kline made a motion to
hold a consideration
and Council meeting
next Monday night. The
matter under consideration would be
election of Mayor
and report from
Bidders on the work now
provided for. Motion carried.
There was no more Business
to come before the meeting.
Adjournment was taken at 11:30 PM.
